Quote from: ArmaghTastic on July 17, 2026, 01:12:59 PMDon't see Kane being World Class. A good player no doubt but being English he is slightly overrated the same as most English players. His numbers are a bit inflated from playing in the German league imo. Scores plenty of goals for England against lesser nations and plenty of penalties also .

England's best ever player? Not for me he isn't, obviously Gazza is the best player they have ever produced, now he was World Class, now if you're asking who was the best player that done the business for the England national team and not just England's best ever player then yeah Kane has to be up there because of his goals scored record (despite who most of the goals he scored were against poor opponents)but like has been said has gone missing in many of the big games.

He'd a fantastic goal scoring record at a shite Spurs team and no doubt would have broke goal scoring records in England if he'd stayed. He's undoubtedly world class.

Was Tuchel in the same position as Martinez with Portugal (Ronaldo) and not wanting to take Harry Kane off?

Where? Like him or loathe him, a small amount of research confirms he has the best goal/game ratio of his generation* against the traditional top 5 teams (City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea). All coming from a mediocre Spurs team. He is 100% world class.

*And better than Rooney, Henry and Drogba etc. too.

Look-Up!

I would say so. Looked gassed and he tends to get caught in possession a bit in his own half at the best of times. The way things panned out it actually would have been better not start him and spring him fresh from the bench, in GAA style. Imagine the meltdown!!! That would also have required support runners instead of defenders.

Think Tuchel is being FOS BTW trying to explain all the egg away from his face. He picks the players and if keeping possession was needed and is inherently an issue why exacerbate the problem and fill the team with lumbering CHs and leave the team with no outball?

Quote from: Hoof Hearted on July 17, 2026, 09:32:16 AMGary Neville had him taking corners when he was on the English coaching staff

Seen Neville give an explanation for this recently. Said Kane and Rooney were the only two who could really whip the ball in with their right foot and Rooney was better in the air so Kane took the corners.

Chicken shit!  ;D Some of the other lads would have made Harry Kane world class/not world class into a multi-day personal feud lasting 10 pages.

Henry was better than Kane and also had a better scoring ratio in the PL.

Kane is absolutely world class though. The main criticism I would have with him is his no-shows in finals. There was the CL final and 2 League Cup finals with Spurs where he didn't score, as well as the two Euro finals for England.

Too hot for arguing :D

In all seriousness they needed some pace to run in behind or at least give Argentina something to think about when Gordon went off be that Rashford or someone else. Thank feck they made a balls of it.

GTP

Kane is definitely a world class goal scorer. The talk about him dropping into midfield and spraying passes like a midfield General is over hyped.
