Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on July 06, 2026, 12:17:10 PMCan see a repeat of the Donegal v Meath Semi this weekend.

Louth will be coming into this game full of hope but I can't see them being able to cope with Mayo's forwards.

Mayo by 10-12.

As a neutral watching ideally you want to see two good competitive semi-finals won by a point or two.

You could well be right with Louth folding like Meath last year.

I'm not totally convinced on Dublin either and Kerry was more vulnerable with the schedule against Tyrone than they will be for this game.
Don't see this Mayo team being at the level Donegal where last year going into semi final.  If Cork had of brought their shooting boots Mayo would have been gone, the standard in that game was well below any of the other quarter finals imo.  The method of victories in the Dublin, Armagh and Monaghan games should give Louth serious confidence.

Well you have now seen it. Uncanny resemblance to Meaths performance against Donegal last year and Meath had victories over Dublin,Galway, Kerry coming into that game and talked up by certain pundits as Louth was before today.

Mayo for Sam Maguire and England for the World Cup in the same year?

SouthOfThe Bann

Mayo are big underdogs v Kerry in the final if it is to be them.

But as I said few weeks back they've always a chance in any game with the forwards they have.

Nope, Argentina and Kerry, like  last time.

Or even France Dublin like 2018. Either way , I'll  take it.

Monaghan couldn't play Mayo in the semis, would have been one of the 2 teams tomorrow

You couldn't play Mayo again (repeat pairing)  Kerry or Dublin instead had Monaghan won.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Feel sorry for poor Louth.
Mayowestros could well win 🏆.
😭🥶
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

You can only win if you're in the final and at the minute Mayo have a good chance if they replicate that intensity and accuracy
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Kerry/Dublin will be favourites but Mayo have a punchers chance. Largely untested vs Cork and Louth obviously so hard to know where they are at.

thewobbler

Mayo have much more than a puncher's chance.

An extremely well balanced side.

Moran has left 5 of the greatest players in their county's history living on crumbs since Roscommon.

Will he now have the cojones to move out two wonderfully natural wing backs to match up Ruane and DOC against Kerry's massive wing forwards? If he does that, Mayo will win.

Even if he doesn't they'll be there to the end.

If Kerry beat Dublin there could be a repeat of some of those finals... Would love to see mayo win it mind.

Look-Up!

Louth looked like they had stage fright.

Mayo look like a team growing into the championship. Lots of scope for improvement in them too. Big ask in final but they have more than a punchers chance I hope.

If they miss out in final, it's likely the last time they'll see McDonald in a Mayo jersey for the next 10 years at least. So there's that too.

imtommygunn

Moran as a player was a sharp boy. Maybe transitioning that into management.

There'll be some hype and pressure on Kobe for the next 2 weeks.
It'll be the main news story for every newspaper and media outlet - Kobe's last game before going to Australia.
Could be a repeat of R9 before the 98 World Cup Final.

Armagh18

I'm just not seeing it with Mayo. No bad side but I don't think they're on Kerrys level. Some serious quality up front and Conroy off the bench is electric but Clifford will get about 2-12 against their defence, midfield doesn't stack up to Kerry either. (Assuming they win tomorrow which is far from a certainty)

Will suit Mayo to be underdogs and I'd obviously love them to prove me wrong and win the whole thing. If Dublin win tomorrow though all bets are off and the final could be a classic.
