Yup. Tourmalet in that kind of heat has the potential to be the defining moment of the tour already. Don't think VLAB can offer anything to rival the lead out UAE will give Pogacar. Can very easily see a situation with Del Toro that mirrors the job Narvaez did on Hautacam last year where he was essentially sprinting the final lead out and Pog just road away. Except Del Toro is better.

is TG4 the only place to watch now?

Something else.

Am heading over for the two Alpe d'Huez stages with a few mates. We were expecting the Tour to be decided on those days but Pogacar seems to have other ideas.

Anyone ever do the climb?

gallsman

The conventional wisdom was that you couldn't win the Tour today but could easily lose. Think he's defied that logic. Surely it's done already, especially as there are essentially four days of rest for the GC guys now.

That's that then. Procession to Paris

I think there has to be massive suspicion of it but I don't even care anymore. Just taking it for what it is. A once in a lifetime talent that we are getting to watch live.

I agree and Im not suggesting anything. But it is cycling and often when someone is as dominant there is usually talk of PEDs

He's breaking the most famous climbs accent records by ridiculous margins.that can't all just be bike technology and nutrition.

gallsman

The thing is, everyonenn else is breaking them as well.

Pogacar set a KOM on the Tourmalet of over two mins. That sounds insane. Except Vingegaard also broke the old record by 90 odd seconds. I think everyone down to Seixas was inside the old record.

Any idea who held the old record ? Was it Pinot by any chance?

Found it. Was Bardet in 2023

Is peak Pogacar that far ahead of a 31 year old Bardet in 2023. Probably. The tourmalet is rarely used as a stage finish so how it is ridden will affect the times plus Yates, Del Toro all pulling for Pogacar will make some difference to the time. If there is something else afoot then i hope it comes out. Vingegaard will keep battling. Wonder why he was masked up when interviewed pre stage. Hint of illness?

Sprint into Bordeaux today. Fancy Kooij and maybe Kanter as an outside punt. Philipsen and Merlier yet to really show, could be today.
