There is not as much between those teams as people think. I would not be suprised if USA went further.

Also need DR Congo not to beat Ubekestan. After Iran grabbed a point, they now need all 3 3rd place teams in the last three groups today to fall behind them. They should already be on the plane home.

They have a 0.07% chance according to BBC Scotland. English feckers having a good laugh.

Am I being naive here, but did Mick McCarthy make a mistake letting Pico Lopes walk out the door?

I don't think he would have nailed down a first team place long term, but Ireland have played the likes of Keogh, an obviously declined Duffy, O'Toole, Boyle, Pearce and Arter at centre half. He seems far superior to them.

At least HH has capped players based at home, but O'Neill and Kenny ignored them. McCarthy played Byrne and Burke and nobody else.
