#2205
Con O'Callaghan named on the published Dublin team, I doubt he'll start but it looks like Ger Brennan will keep Galway guessing.

Kerry with unchanged team. Burns back on the bench and back from suspension.

Beggan named to start but will he be fit enough to take long ranges frees and 45s?

Dublin  must be really afraid of Galway's  forwards. Looks like they are going to park  the bus

DaleCooper

Atrocious team sheet by Dubs. No subs listed ffs. Guessing its influenced by the ground game

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on June 25, 2026, 11:52:31 AMDonegal have shown twice if you throw a slap or two at them and get physical they lie down. Tyrone need to follow this mantra and also learn from Armaghs mistakes and go at them. Jordan's two point potential could be crucial for Tyrone. Fitness of Canavan also a big factor, even for squad depth.

this x 1000 as going down to 13 or 14 men really works in the modern game. And to further cement your point, Kerry are out and Donegal are still standing, right?

What Donegal did show is you can beat Kerry missing 8 odd starters and down a man in a non-knockout game. But if Tyrone do start slapping them it should work
I'm sure he doesn't mean literally, but you definitely need to get aggressive and physical with them, Armagh let Geaney and Clifford dance round them without laying a glove. That'll get you nowhere.

There is nothing in championship history to suggest that Kerry will lay down against a physical approach.

The only way to beat them is to make fewer mistakes overall, and to be relentless when you have the momentum.

This is hard to do. It doesn't happen very often against Kerry. But it's a much better strategy than thinking you can rough up a team of physical specimens.

This current Tyrone don't tend to rough teams up (much).  If they try this against Kerry it will be out of character.  Kerry are no softies - the likes of the Cliffords can handle themselves.
I don't know about that re David Clifford, he does get overly emotional eg when celebrating his scores, he evidently overreacts to a wind up. I'd say grab him by the balls and make some appropriate comment re his manhood.  But Tyrone players have undergone a lengthy painful collective exorcism in order to expel their embedded demonic dark arts.

Wildweasel74

Clifford and O'Connor near 6ft 4in. Nobody gonna bully them, outside of the 2 midfielders, this is a small Tyrone team, bullying could be the other way round!

DaleCooper

Cameras everywhere now. Morgan clattered DC with his knee once by accident.

I would get ODonnell, Clarke and McElholm to run at the Big 4 early to try and draw a yellow. Joe O Connor/ Marc O Se especially.

OConnor is master at dispossessing so high risk

Keane

Kerry are substantially more physically imposing than Tyrone. This "hit them a few digs and they will wilt" stuff is serious copium.

I'd say if Tyrone do that to big Joe the outcome will be McElholm on his arse and the ball in the hands of a Geaney or a Clifford within about 0.5 seconds.

Not sure what people are watching but Tyrone don't typically do that. We'll keep possession, slow things down and give it to the shooters like Armagh did. I haven't seen us play with much pace all year

It's your best chance. Unlike us you need to be clinical and not give away sloppy possession as Kerry will tear you a new one. At least you have 2 midfielders that'll have half a chance of mixing it with their big boys as well.

Will need everything going to plan though.

It would be mental tactics from Tyrone to go down that road. We actually played very well last year in the semi final. There was a 15 minute spell in the 2nd half where Kerry pulled away and were 10 up at one point. We will see similar to last year from Tyrone and hope that we do it slightly better and Kerry don't be quite on it as they were.

Tyrone are 5/1 in the bookies. A bit long maybe.

Angus MacGyver

Louth have drifted out to 6/4 which is a surprise, I'd have had them as slight favourites.
Beggan named to start but the word on the street is he may not play or if he does he won't be hitting 60 metre bombs.

As regards Tyrone physically bullying Kerry, not going to happen given the size and power differential in the teams. Agree it will be the other way around if anything- it is is how Kerry have accounted for Tyrone in recent games. In fact, Tyrone have never 'bullied' Kerry in any of their classic encounters- 2003 was a tactical innovation to win, and they simply outplayed Kerry in 2005 and 2008.
Don't buy into the narrative that Kerry somehow need protection from these big bad teams.

A bit like the Armagh game last week (at least per my memory) Tyrone started well and were well on top in the kickout stakes. Gradually Kerry began to assert themselves and led at HT. A few minutes of the second half Tyrone stayed in touch but Kerry stretched away and kept them at arm's length thereafter.

You have to question what happened in that second half spell when Kerry put the game to bed and figure out how to avoid a spell like that again. Are Kerry (tactically or otherwise) a bit like the great Dublin team where they would often be no more than a few points ahead at HT but for whatever reason teams can't match them in the second half? Or is there a weakness there to exploit? Certainly Tyrone were well in the game for the first half.

I don't see the current Tyrone crop as dirty in any shape or form. When they won the semi-final in 2021 we had nothing to complain about (wingnut conspiracy theories aside) it was just a game we were out-footballed in.

Last year I think both teams missed goal chances. If Kerry do so again and Tyrone snaffle a few the game will be there for the taking, I don't give them much of a chance if they don't raise 2+ green flags. Caveat that there's a non-trivial possibility of Kerry being significantly off it due to the quick turnaround. We basically never saw that from Dublin when they had their great team, Kerry's consistency is substantially more questionable at this stage.

Would have Monaghan as very slight favourites but the 3 weeks on the trot is tough going for Monaghan. The Beggan factor is key and if he's not playing or restricted thats a huge blow. 3 tight games at the weekend (if all teams turn up and play close to their best- you don't know what you're going to get with Cork, Mayo or Dublin)

Tyrone have a punchers chance but very hard to look past Kerry.

TyroneTam

Rewatched the semi final last night for first time since actually being at it. We actually had the perfect first half bar taking our opportunities.

Absolutely cleaned Kerry out in midfield and they had an off day themselves, their goal just before half time was the killer.

McCurry just didn't have the shooting boots on and DC didn't get on much ball at all.

Kerry are outrageous favourites tomorrow but if we can get our efficiency up around 70% and kerry have a rare odd day then we might have the smallest chance. Tyrone will always bring that confidence and even thought Kerry have beat us well the last two times we met our lads will fully believe they can win.
