McGuinness got his season planning all wrong. He obsessed over Kerry and forgot about the rest. Dublin were better set up than Donegal and nailed Donegals kickouts too. Same as Cork.
Donegal have some of the best players in Ireland if they were let play but the likes of Murphy was too focused on trying to bully and enforce instead of playing football. It has made them become very unpopular with neutrals across the country.

I can't remember ever cheering on Dublin in a match  in my life , but I was cheering for them  on Sunday

Donegal have lost a lot of  respect and neutral support  this last two years

Think it was my first time supporting Dublin outside them playing Tyrone in 2017 and 2018.

I don't think I have heard any of this. I think alot of the McGeeney out campaigners died off after 2024 and has plenty of credit in the bank even with those who wanted him gone pre 2024.  He still won an Ulster Championship this year which seems to have been forgotten given what happened in the two games since.

I'm proudly one of them.

They did spank Kerry but that means very little when they lost to Down Cork and Dublin. Yes it was good to win a league title but no doubt Jim and Murphy were only there for one reason this year and that was the All Ireland. I'd say Donegal would swap the 3 spankings to be in Kerrys shoes now this weekend.

Yes and you don't hear them complaining, they just get on with it, same as everyone else. Donegal on the other hand had 4 weeks to prepare for Down and lost. They had 3 weeks to prepare for Cork and lost, bit Jimmy can't see past the 'condensed season'. It's always someone elses fault.

And here is the rub, it's not as through they were knocked out my Kerry like Armagh. The have lost to Down, Cork and Dublin along the way. With due respect (even to the county I love) none are All Ireland contenders.

The League has always been a different beast. Meath have also seen that.

Blaming external factors will be (legitimately) seen as buck passing.

I would think so. Dublin was the perfect storm given management and players were back. It wasn't great on Sunday, but it was a far cry from the absolute collapse against Westmeath.

Yep, whatever about the Kerry games and the legitimate questions about Donegal's approach to this season, there are a number of lads on here who have been hysterically howling about Donegal for years and years (Bonner, Martin McHugh, Ryan McHugh, McGuinness, Murphy, even Brendan Devenney way back when if you're an old timer like me), but it's gotten ridiculous since McGuinness, and later Murphy, came back.

Maybe when the likes of Mark McHugh or Karl Lacey succeed McGuinness as manager, it'll change, but I'll not hold my breath.

They shouldn't be too far off winning an AI.  There must be a reason why they lost the 3 championship matches, and especially the two at home.  That suggests an underlying issue whether it is fatigue from putting too much into the early part of the year, or lack of focus.  I don't think it's due to a lack of quality. Watched them in the league against Armagh and thought at the time that were absolutely flying and perhaps going too full tilt at that stage of the year.

I like McGuinness I think he's great for the game. It would be a much more boring sport without him.
