Some boys calling for McFaul to come back is utterly laughable. I even see ones on line calling for Gallagher back.

I love this team and what they done winning 2 Ulsters were my best moments as a Derry fan but we need to be honest.

There were 15 or so players who believed they, and they alone, were good enough to win an all Ireland. Time has proved they weren't. 2 shots at semi finals and they failed, if you think of the Kerry semi final what failed us in the second half was the impact of the bench and our shooting. The same problem we have today. Since winning Division 1 we have beaten Westmeath and Antrim in the championship, thats 3 years, and its the same core group with very few players allowed in, only when really needed due to retirement or injury. These boys dictated who our manager was and even changed the colour of our jersey. All for 2 championship wins in I think around 11 games.

Some of these are very great players but some of them are now past their best, depsite managements refusal to drop them no matter how they perform or the evidence in front of our face. All this despite being in 3 minor all irelands in 5 years and a chance of another this year. I blame Gallagher for alot of this, i was told by an insider once he would train with 15 players if he could and i think that attitude has remained with us. That will only get us so far, and the cracks were evident even in our division 2 final against Dublin in 22.

What we need is new blood, to improve what we have, bring young boys in. Competition for places and no man is irreplaceable. The weekend proves no team is far away from a big win so all is not lost in the coming years. Just time to move forward.

Quote from: referee on June 15, 2026, 08:20:44 AMBiggest mistake Meenagh made was allowing Mc Kaigue to be part off his management team,an absolute bell end,Glass and Mc Guigan are living off the Gallagher years, can seem to play shite but still remain on the field,Mc kinless getting involved at ht,getting a black card and when he gets back on is non existent for fear off another foul would've seen him lined, before Glass went off with the bang to he head he was a passenger

Go ahead enlighten us why McKaigue shouldn't be part of the management team? You remark is very personal with no evidence to back it up that he isn't at that level. Benny Heron is part of that management team as well. No personal insult for him either?
Personally from watching our kickout strategy and our forward play I would say our forwards coach Benny Heron and goalkeeping coach Thomas Mallon will have to put a serious argument to justify getting to stay.

Defensively I actually thought Derry weren't too bad this year and you'd assume that would be Mc Kaigue area of expertise.

Another question I like to see what people think. Is the team anywhere need fit enough?

Bad action u man behind the wire holding the kilrea boy in a choke hold then hits him, and the shitstorm that followed after. That boy should get a very long suspension.
