Darren Cann looking for a square ball to be introduced for corners in the soccer!

The argument that the goal should have stood because Arsenal may have got away with perceived fouls earlier in the season when scoring from corners is nonsense.
Watching the replay, it appears the first foul is when the West Ham 15, Mavropanos, grabs Arsenals 49, Lewis-Skelly, round the neck towards the outside of the six-yard box. Whatever directives referees receive the pulling of Raya's jersey and arm across the shoulder and neck directly affect the play as he is prevented from getting the ball (which he should have caught regardless) so once the referee is advised of it, there is no way he can ignore foul play.
In my memory corners have always been like this, except previously the ref would stop play chat to defender and attacker about pulling and pushing then on a retake randomly blow for a free to the defending team if anything happened.

Maybe this will wake them up to doing away with holding, grappling and shirt pulling altogether.

It's always been there, but it's been taken to a whole other level this season, led by Arsenal.

A square ball type rule is not the worst suggestion I've heard either.

For once even your kiss of death won't work and aren't you a supporter of Soulless City?

Pulling this gombeen out typifies the paralysis by analysis that soccer has become

When asked what differentiates between offences in the same proximity/phase of play he said impact, surely any half cognisant being would use a time stamp to delineate

It doesn't even make sense. He, correctly, says that pulling and dragging when the ball is dead can't result in a free kick/penalty. But moving the pulling and dragging 6 yards out doesn't fix that specific problem.

not being an expert I wasn't sure about that part either. IMO if Declan Rice is rugby tackling a lad before the goalkeeper is being illegally impeded, the goal doesn't stand but the first offence would mean a penalty to the Hammers.

As I say, I'm no expert, but surely the first foul takes precedence.

Interesting reading. The current state of the game does not lie at Arsenal's feet however.

Yiz are like Spillane all over again.

There's an angle that shows the boy that fouls the goalie getting man handled into that position too. Absolutely mental. Not a few thing like as my ould boy has been whinging about the pushing and shoving at corners for years but seems to have really become a big issue this year.

There was at least 3 West Ham players dragged to the ground. How do you draw a conclusion that they didn't deserve a penalty but also a foul on GK.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion. I would have 100% gave a penalty. There was a foul on the goalie (by a boy who was being fouled) plus at least 2 more fouls. The first foul was Arsenal players man handling the boy who ended up fouling the keeper so i thought penalty. I even googled last night wondering if VAR wasn't allowed to check something that was seen while they were looking for something else but not the case.

Personally, i think West Ham were hard done by and that's coming from a Leeds supporter whose team were guaranteed survival with that West Ham loss.

West Ham had all season to stay in the PL, people need to stop looking at these moments defining moments for a team's relegation
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Sorry ...phrased that poorly... I meant 'you' as the referee and not you personally.  So agree for sure!
