Just back from a minor club game where 2 lads had to go off with knocks to the head because they both dived in for a 50/50 ball after a kickout so we can start there I suppose.

Sorry lads I didn't know a player trying to win a ball was a bad thing now

You are simply incredible.

😁

The Comer 50m play, how much football has he played really since the new rules were brought in ? He's not conditioned for that gentleman rule just yet

Tubberman

Delighted that showboater Finnerty ended up on losing side. Looking for adoration after a score in the first couple of mins. He was well snuffed out as the game went on.

At least we now know where all the vuvuzelas in the country ended up

I had to switch off an Ulster championship game a few years back as the vuvuzelas were too much, but today was on a different level again.

I googled and apparently both these and air-horns are banned inside the ground. It must be hell for supporters.

On TV somehow RTE have managed to increase the volume of these horns and decrease the atmospheric sound of the crowd at the same time.

It's pure torture.

[/quote Galway posters on here would have loved to see your post Moonman. Put the blight on their team the moment it was posted. At least a stopped clock is right twice in one day
you've only had enough to drink when you cant hold onto the ground

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on May 10, 2026, 06:00:21 PMGame management from Galway after getting Comers goal was shocking.

How many times did they kick the ball up in the air.

And then Comers giving the 50 metre penalty away.
We do this all the time.
We could be 15 points up and we would let whoever we're playing back into the game.
Pj has questions to answer over his team selection today. Roche, Molloy and O'Flaherty have absolutely no form all year to deserve starting a Connacht final.
Roche had a few games in the league and was dreadful.

Yeah they easily could have closed that game out with the possession thry had.

Where was the marking for that 2 pointer straight after the goal too.

A bookies dream.

Anyone that thinks the provincial championships are dead needs to watch that game back and see the scenes at the end with the pitch celebrations.

Galway went all out to win 5 and row and looked certain winners when 6 points ahead with ten minutes to play but what a grandstand finish for Roscommon huge bench impact to remarkably get their first Hyde Park championships win v Galway since 1990 and a first Connacht title in that venue since 2001.

Well Done Roscommon and hard luck Galway.

GaillimhIarthair

Congrats to the Rossies, strong finish and had all the momentum at the right time.  Kick a few very good scores to win it.  Plenty of positives for Galway with many injured lads on the way back.  However, also plenty of questions as usual around team selection (that started) game management and kick-outs.

Armagh18

Unreal game of football as a neutral, good to see the Rossies break the Galway run.

Comer hard done by for that 50m advancement.

Congrats Roscommon, thought Galway were in for a right trimming at half time. Game was lost in first half with the half arsed tactics of pressing Carroll's kickouts, Joyce 100% to blame for that; Setup was diabolical and should never happen again, can't win a game like that.

Who's the clown who said Comer knew what he was at, never a free in the first place. Watched the game with plenty of neutrals who wanted Roscommon to win who all agree Hurson was riding Galway. Thats not the 1st time Galway have been on the wrong end of a really poor decision by Hurson in the final moments.

But it's Galway's own fault, kickouts in first half  along with bizare selection of Molloy, Roche and O'Flaherty who were all poor come back to haunt Galway. Didn't expect any of 3 to see any game time never mind start, Molloy had a shocking league.

But there are positives, when early in the 2nd half when it looked like they'd be well beaten they dug in deep and dominated for 20 minutes and took control.

Just seen the kick out stats, says it all.

It depends when the ref blew the whistle, couldn't tell from telly. If it was blown for initial challenge/foul, then Comer stopped Roscommon taking the quick free and the 50m was warranted.

Didn't see any sign of Hudson riding Galway at all.
