Not sure why Isak was started. Surely half an hour at the end would have served him and the team better with Rio given a start?

As things stand, Liverpool are miles off the level to win the CL and FSG need to seriously do their homework on whether Slot is the man to get them back there. Especially as they've major squad surgery to do over the next year or so.

Salah created a couple of good chances and got on a lot of ball, but he gave away far too much of it through loose and poorly weighted passes and poor control in tight situations.

On the bright side, if they can bring tonight's effort and spirit to the remaining league games, they'll have a good chance of getting top four or five. But that's been the big "if" for a while now.

Id Isak came on at 60 and (big) IF we get it to extra time he ends up having to play maybe 70 mins, when he was only passed to play 45

Nothing stopping him taking off again.

He gave Joe Gomez, who was doing rightly, 16 minutes before whipping him off for Ngomoa.

Ekitike is out for 9-12 months. Snapped his Achilles.

After Everton scored I never even got time to type "Slot Out" before Salah scored.

So sweet 😂

Late late winner in the derby and that win should go a long way to finish 5th and secure Champions league football next season.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

After this season I'll definitely take a 100 min winner from the captain

Presumably, even this malfunctioning Liverpool team will get the one or two wins they need to claim the fifth CL spot and set themselves up to do the next stage of rebuilding the squad this summer.

Question is, what do they need to get back on track if they don't screw up CL qualification?

Elitike is out until at least the new year. Salah will obviously leave, as presumably will Chiesa. Jayden Danns' progress has been completely hampered by a series of injuries, so it's hard to believe that he will be a realistic option except as maybe a fourth or fifth choice squad member. They needed to spend quite a bit of money for a direct replacement for Salah, but another one or two are needed up front.

Not sold on Marmardashvilli yet. Good shot stopper and reflexes and solid all around, but your keeper has to be comfortable on the deck these days and he is a disaster on that front. Almost every possession that goes through him ends in a hoof up front to forwards who are not comfortable battling for possession or holding up the ball should they win it. Obviously Everton's goal yesterday came from such a turnover, but it's been an issue for months when he's played and just adds to the multitude of other issues the team has had this year.

Midfield - Seriously lacking on the physical side of the game this season apart from Szobozlai and there's rumours that they're interested in Wharton, but they'll hardly be the only ones. McAllister has had a poor season, and will be coming back with little break as presumably Argentina will go deep in the World Cup. Endo will leave and will hopefully be replaced by someone Slot has some level of faith in. If Nyoni is going to make it at the club, you'd expect he will feature a bit more next year too.

Defence - Konate is out of contract this summer, and like most I'm ambivalent about him. Brilliant when he's on it, but this season his confidence has been low, he's mistake-prone, and long term he's always had problems with big physical strikers. Leoni will be back, but will obviously need time to get match fit and adapt to the team and the PL, so it's doubtful that he will walk into the team. The lad they signed at Xmas, Jacquette, will be in the same boat, young, coming back from a serious injury and needing time. So it looks like at least one senior CB should definitely be on the cards. Word is that Tsimikas will return as back up LB to replace Robertson, but they need to strengthen at RB too. Bradley is simply too injury-prone, while Frimpong is not an orthodox full back. Gomez is coming to the end of his contract too, so will he want to stay?

And all of that is before you even get into the issue of what exactly the plans were/are for Isak and Wirtz. Presumably the basic plan was that Wirtz would be slipping balls through the gaps for Isak, but the team is a million miles from being set up to get the anything out of either of them, with Isak barely touching the ball in most games he's played.

10 clear of Chelsea, 8 clear of Brighton.
Hopefully have done enough now to secure Champions League for next season.

Fav part of that was Munoz getting the ball winged off his scone by the fan

Not much word about tomorrow's match at Old Trafford. With recent results in the top five race, I guess it doesn't make a whole lot of difference outside of pride.

Do all the English teams automatically get into the main CL series now? There used to be a qualifying round for 4th spot.

"If you ain't first, you're last"..  I couldn't care if they finish 2nd or 5th as the prize is the same.
Would take a boring 0-0 tbh.

Christ 🙄
Could be a big payback today for those 0-5 and 7-0 games.
