Quote from: Orior on March 23, 2026, 09:22:21 AMI thought the Armagh players were claiming a 45 before the full-time hooter went. Would it have been allowed under the new rules?

From the other end of the ground it looked like the umpire had signalled a 45. Pretty clear on TV he hadn't but with the bodies around him it caused considerable confusion at the other end.
I thought when I saw stewards trying to get people off the field that the ref had maybe given it and was trying to clear the field for it to be taken. Looked as though the Kerry man hit the ball last from where I was.

For the first time in ages, Kerry have lots of scoring options besides David Clifford, some that were absent yesterday.
Tom O'Sullivan
Sean O'Shea
Dylan Geaney
Paul Geaney
Joe O'Connor
Paudie Clifford
If David Clifford is being held from a scoring POV he's well suited for a playmaker role.

gallsman

Is Geaney confirmed as coming back? He was already in the twilight of his IC career. Injury held him back quite a bit in club championship too.

Quote from: Armagh18 on March 23, 2026, 06:44:00 AMKerry for 20 minutes looked like freaks of nature who wouldn't be touched.

When we eventually got our hands on the ball and ran at them, we looked much better and probably could have went in ahead if we'd taken a few easy chances.

Second half was an unreal watch, we missed more handy ones and had a goal chance cleared off the line.

Sean O'Shea and Conaty both unusually quiet for their standards.
Probably a few nightmares for Armagh given what O'Shea did in Croke Park in the AI Quarter Final.  Conaty was quiet but got two massive scores in last ten minutes.

Thought Murphy did brilliantly well on him.

Quote from: galwayman on March 22, 2026, 04:20:20 PMWe are brutal. Referee just as bad.
Kelly and Tierney both off with what looked like hamstring injuries.
We just don't beat Dublin. Ever. 2024 was an aberration.
Molloy had an absolute nightmare.
MacDonnacha and Roche inside passengers.
Finnerty the only scoring forward we have at the minute

Molloy has had a brutal league, is that the 2nd or 3rd time he's been pulled before half time; Time and time again he gets turned over. It was a lot to ask of Roche playing where he did and he really struggled. Fionn McDonagh must be injured given we've not seen him the last 2 weeks.

Galway though consistent in every game, 8 points certainly a fair reflection of the league campaign. Finnerty again outstanding again and taken his game to the next level. Hope Hernon can keep fit, he's a great all round footballer and adds something to that defence.

Galway's season is going to depend on how many players can they can get back fit, I've written of Comer but McDaid and Walsh would make a huge difference as will Thompson when he returns from the US. Those 3 would totally change that forward line. McGrath who's had a great league really struggled to make an impact yesterday, and I know he didn't have his best game but McDonnacha sill contributed on the scoreboard and is a good man too win a 50:50 ball.

O'Laoi another one who's missed the last 4 games through injury after a brilliant start to the league, good to see Daly back on the bench because he  adds something very different if he gets back to his from which got him an All Star.

How is this a yearly occurrence for Galway - it seems to be from the league onwards every year they are panicking on who is going to come back and when. Full out they are a formidable outfit but this never happens

Good League for Donegal, Kerry, Mayowestros Galway and ourselves (despite yesterday).

Armagh will be happy to have avoided relegation with 2 good results at the end leaving them coming good as Ulster looms.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Quote from: blanketattack on March 23, 2026, 11:42:47 AMDid the Galway-Dublin game finish first and Armagh players know they were safe with a draw?
Armagh seemed to have no real interest in going for a winning score in the last minute bar a half-hearted attempt 3 seconds from the end when they knew Kerry had no chance of scoring.

No. I had left the ground when news came through of the win by Galway.

The end is absolutely the best time to come good, there is a bigger job ahead.

Curious as to how Kerry approach the league final with regard to Clifford.

(i) play him and let McGuinness run his eye over him along with the Donegal defence

(ii) hold him back like they did in the league game for obvious reasons

I mean, there is nothing McGuinness can learn about him anymore now than in the aif last year.  The only way to contain Clifford is to stop the ball going into him.

I would say Kerry would be looking at how Donegal approach this game more than the other way around.

That table backs up the point a few of us Armagh posters were making about the strength in depth of our panel.  It has been pushed to the limit over the league campaign. Hopefully the injured players will start to come back over the next few weeks.
