Think I fancy Abbey in ET, smaller & faster, few of the Mullingar big lads were gassing. O'Rourke came into it well for Abbey, seemed to be man marked in 1st half but with the wind Mullingar left him be in the 2nd.

Abbey did well into the wind

Will be interesting to see if they play that way with the wind in extra time.  They were passive with the wind , but huge tackling intensity second half. Mullingar with 4 two pointers to Abbeys 1.

armaghniac

Mullingar better at two pointers than Armagh!
Abbey fecked here, I think.

Scahill is absolute class.

Deserved win for Mullingar but I'm sure Abbey will have plenty of regrets.

I take it the big lad was Ormsby, i remember his father playing if it was Tom,was about 6ft 6in.

Tom's lad was the smaller of the two , at 6-6. He had a big influence at crucial stages. Older brother was midfield for Westmeath 20s the past 2 years. They'll probably be the Westmeath senior midfield in a couple of years time.

Bit of collector's item that one. Is that an A grade/ seriously competed for competition?

Yes - it's the A grade for year 11s (4th years in old money)

I don't know how serious schools take it but it is A grade. St Pats got to the semi final of the Corn na nOg last year so they're not miles off. St Pats Cavan and St Pats Maghera would be the 2 big teams at that age.

That was an enjoyable Hogan Cup final. Well done Mullingar.

Watched bits and pieces.. the last kick had the distance just not the accuracy

The Schools rugby final has been decent too

Good final a timely boost for Westmeath football, winning All-Irelands is good beating Kerry opposition in the final is even better
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose
