Good win in Mullingar. Pretty rotten conditions with a tight, soft pitch and a cross-wind making it a poor spectacle at times.

Mossy was very good and Ryan Mullaney added a little bit of physicality to the forwards. I think we have the defenders to absorb his loss so I reckon this looks a great move.

Not sure if Aidan Corby picked up an injury because he had a decent first half. Good to see Fionán Mahony get a run and he didn't look out of place at all.

Panel is building nicely and Picky, though still looking rusty, just adds that class and assuredness we need.

Well done to players and management.

Great to see Picky named on todays panel.

I'm surprised at the lack of game time Eoin Fleming is getting, he was the best keeper in the Laois Championship last year and not getting any chance to challenge for the number 1 spot.

Is Eoin Reilly in there too?

Good win to get

Eoin named on the 26 today.

Good win today, pretty poor in first half but ran away with it in second half. Mossy Keyes finally showed a glimpse of his talent.

Laois into a league final now. Their biggest  test though will be Dr. Cullen Park in April. It will be tough.

County Man

Just to touch on the Laois motion for the GAA congress, in my opinion it was the correct decision to get rid of the link to the Liam McCarthy.

Last year against Tipperary, it was something like 1-5 to 0-0 after 6 minutes to Tipperary. In 2024 against Wexford it was handy enough for them overall.

We have to aim to win the Joe McDonagh cup this year to return to Leinster next year with 5 top class matches. That is our carrot and what this year will be defined on.

Roughly 7 weeks out now from the Carlow game. The whole season hinges on that game and a week later against Antrim.

In terms of the league, good to return to division 1b next year and stronger opposition.

The players haven't been too keen on it the last couple of years, either - which is understandable, as they were on a downer. However, I still think they should have kept the link for the winners of the Joe Mc.

Laois Rising

I agree the winners of the Joe Mc should have still progressed to the All-Ireland series. I know the win over Dublin was celebrated more than the Joe McD win itself and the day in Croker playing Tipperary in Croker was a fantastic occasion.

The easy fix would have been to have the two forth place teams play off (Munster 4th and Leinster 4th) with winner advancing to play third place Leinster/Munster team. If Munster 4th place beat Leinster 4th place then they place Leinster 3rd place team and Joe McD winners place Munster 3rd place team. If Leinster 4th place team won then they play Munster 3rd place team and Joe McD winners the Leinster 3rd team.

It would have killed two birds with one stone. It would have stopped the whinging that a really strong Munster fourth place team gets knocked out far too early and gives the Joe McD winning team a chance (like Laois 2019) to extend their season and ride the momentum of the Joe McD win.

LaoisHeritage

The issue with the previous format was that there was only a week to recover after the Joe McDonagh final. Which gives the teams coming through the Joe mc virtually no chance. Last year Laois played Kildare on a Sunday and then played tipp on the Saturday after. Between celebrating and short turn around there was virtually no training the week before the preliminary round. Realistically to give any short of chance to them teams they needed a two week break but I don't think the gaa realised this. Thats why they've been such one sided affairs most years. Thats another reason why beating Dublin in 2019 was so remarkable. Personally as well I think if you lose the Joe mc final you shouldn't have progressed into the all Ireland but the winners should.

How many teams come out of the Joe mcdonagh group? Is there a sfinal?

Currently two finalists, the winners being promoted to Liam McCarthy. There's no semi-finals as it stands, but I think the Laois motion proposed them instead of the preliminary quarter-finals.

Laois man

Is there a full list of dates out yet and who each other are playing in the hurling Senior. Senior B Intermediate and junior Cship??

Zooming around

Some good hurling and excellent shooting by the lads yesterday. The lack of a goal and Mossy's injury are worrying but overall a decent day at the office.

What's the story with Jer Quinlan?

That motion was passed though so there will be semi finals

Can they change a competition rules at this stage?
Are you sure that wouldn't be for next year?

I wasn't at the game on Saturday. How did Eoin Reilly go?
You'd imagine lads like Padraic Dunne and Martin Phelan could have done with starting this game?
