Wuthering Heights. Unbelievable trash. Emerald Fennell[saltburn,promising young woman]

Watched "On the Waterfront" from 1954 to cleanse my palate and its a superb film with young Brando, Eve Marie St and Lee Cobb. Was on my list for ages,Irish American dock workers involved in union dispute with mobsters.

Wuthering Heights is awful. There's a good story there, music was good, cinematography was good if a little too gothic, and the supporting cast were good.

But in what must be a vain attempt to push the principals up for Oscars, it's just goes on and on and on and f**king on forever. And I ended up hating the both, and the movie.

Marketing was disgusting for it.

"Affair bait" they call it.

It is very boring and somehow makes Margo Robbie unsexy. Alison Oliver was only good part.

As I was looking around different reviews I learned of the existence of this book. Somehow 50 Shades seems like high culture

Seen a trailer. Looks like 50 shades but up on the Moors. I suppose women like that sort of thing.

Never read the book. Listened to the song loads of times though, so I sort of know the gist of the story from that . So that'll do me

The publicity campaign for Wuthering Heights is another behemoth. Sometimes they have to pump it harder when they know it's a potential dud. When they are on The One Show on BBC1 you know a film is in trouble.

Its just cringe the way the "naughty" scenes are tacked on. Bit like Saltburn, fake shock value stunts that are hollow and its nowhere as smutty as advertised.

The opening scene is utterly ridiculous, featuring a man being hanged[his erection is shown when he died] then an aroused nun climaxing.

Director is a pretentious toff. Robbie cast herself and way too old for the role. All very self congratulatory. 5

Wuthering Heights, the 1939 version imo is a classic. Laurence Oliver, Merle Oberon & David Nixon. Just outstanding, Laurence Oliver as Heathcliff-brilliant.

Also the 1943 version of Jayne Eyre with Orson Welles is another atmospheric classic.

Finally got to go see Wuthering Heights last night. Cinema packed with women. I counted 3 fellas, myself included

Agreed that the pacing was poor. It could have been cut by 30 mins.

I actually enjoyed plenty of it. It is beautifully shot and as wobbler says, the music is excellent throughout. The crossover between Owen Cooper and Jacob Elordi worked well IMO.

The naughty scenes aren't really even that naughty.

I have nothing to compare this version against as I have never seen any previous film or TV take on the story.

Went to see it last night. This missus was disgusted, and she said it was no where near the original story. She gave it 4/10. I liked the music, however. At least we didn't walk out, but some others did.

Watched The Prestige as was near top of imdb rated films, nearly a good show, half reasonable bit of distraction more than anything, a few titties would of emproved her, bring back the 80s
