Quote from: JimStynes on February 20, 2026, 12:08:16 PMThe club is in some mess at the minute. I can't remember it as bad.

Me neither, total shambles. I don't condone booing my own players but the frustration among the fans is at boiling point. The Celtic Board has committed total sobatage and are responsible for this mess, my only hope is Celtic threw that game last night to concentrate on the league as mad as that sounds that's what it looked like TBH. I'm sitting with 3 season tickets in the drawer here and doubt they'll get much use the rest of the season. 1 of the tickets has been used once so far...The GAA season is among us and I'd prefer beatings following Armagh as I don't have too far to go to get home and costs £18 a ticket :)

The Scottish Premiership looks certain to have only one Champions League place after next season.

The wide-ranging impact of its clubs' underperforming in European competition will also see Scotland's overall allocation reduced from five teams to four. It will become more difficult to reach the league phase, too, as all teams must enter qualifying in earlier rounds. And there could be financial impact on the whole of the Scottish game.

Celtic, the last active Scottish club in European competition this term, suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Stuttgart in the first leg of their Europa League knockout play-off round tie on Thursday. If the elimination of Martin O'Neill's team is confirmed after next Thursday's return leg in Germany, Scotland's fate will be sealed. The Uefa coefficient ranks the average performance of each country's clubs in Europe over a rolling five-year period. Scotland has enjoyed two places in the Champions League for six seasons. Only once, in 2022-23, have both Celtic and Rangers made it through qualifying to play in the competition proper. But in all six seasons both were at least in the Europa League.

Scotland had been ranked as high as ninth between 2021 and 2023, granting the title winners direct access to the Champions League group stage. But there has been a gradual decline since then. Last year Scotland went from two places to one in the Europa League. It has now dropped from 14th to 18th in the Uefa coefficient. Only the top 15 nations get two Champions League spots and later qualifying round access...

Where do you even start...Worst two Centre halves i have seen at that level, pure pathetic tbh. Front 3 are shocking bad too and as for midfield Nygren is the most useless player I have seen yet has scored 18 goals...wtf. He contributes nothing, he's no pace, no work rate, no toughness and yet he's banging them in. How the hell do you explain that one...Can Celtic afford a player who contributes nothing only a goal in most games but nothing else?.
With the state of our wingers i'd play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 with Nygren up front with another empty jersey and play either Tierney/Saracchi or Araujo as the fourth midfielder, Celtic will get pumped next Sunday at Ibrox and to take the heat of the team and Board they'll let the Green Brigade in to next home game after that...Watch this space.

Was thinking same thing yesterday...Nygren could go straight in as centre forward as thats where he naturally seems to gravitate. Jury out on all other strikers, none look the answer atm, tho Ianacho deserves a game or two to show us what he can do.

Maybe this sounds awful, but just pretend you're a gaelic football supporter from Antrim, Waterford or Leitrim and then losing the league doesn't feel too bad.

Martin O'Neill taking stick now from Celtic fans. Didn't drop Kasper and said after Hibs game thst Celtic played well. He's in as a lackey for Desmond and Nicholson.

O'Neill's subs were very poor yesterday. Some of them were baffling. Bernardo started on Thursday night but not even in squad yesterday.

Board have booted GB out, fan media (i.e. Celtic podcasters) out, while giving full access to the Daily Record etc. Only reason Brian Wilson wants to talk to fans now is they knew there was a boycott arranged for a recent league game a few week ago.

Celtic are in a mess. Get Desmond and Board out. They are clueless.

IMHO MoN is a good to decent manager - no more, no less.

He's no visionary but he can organize, he can motivate and he understands the SPL and Celtic. i also think he's prob the best we could get (or at least tried for) til end of season.

With a decent CF and no Nancy interlude he would prob have the league won by now. He also has to rotate the team in some fashion and there was enough out of Bernardo etc to suggest there is a player in there somewhere

I'd be more worried about what he says to the team behind the scenes than what he gives to the media.

Structure and recruitment are the key issues. The shambles of the Jan window (and previous 2 or 3) speaks volumes
