Watched the match on television and there was limited tactical discussion in commentary. What position did Rurai Forbes take up? And if not full back as named who was predominantly FB?
Good performance from everyone who got on the pitch and management with the subs and match ups.
Improvement can come from working more scores from their attacks, at least it did not cost them this week.

A man not mentioned (subconscious bias no doubt  ;D ),snuffed out the 1-09 Jordan, Baker was superb last night

Great to get 2 points on the board...great chance to hang on to Meath's coat tails now re promotion

He was indeed. The whole defence was very good, bar a wee lack concentration here and there. I think Tyrone will beat Meath as its closer to Championship time. If we can beat Kildare in a couple of weeks were in the driver's seat.

Yeah he was strong too - Jordan restricted to frees only.
Hopefully we are turning the corner, if we could get a couple of wins on the bounce the confidence will start to come back.

I was watching the warm up and one of the drills they were doing was a carbon copy of Glass's goal. Looks like we have been focusing on that move, and maybe explains why we kept going for goals rather than taking the easy point. All a process though.

He spent a fair bit of time in Full back line picking up whoever happened to float in there. He also sat at Full back for majority of kickouts allowing Paudi, CD And Gareth to be more of the go to options. I thought he was super too big strong and works really hard.

Seen mentioned earlier that Paul Cass needs to step up and last week I was fairly critical of him but jesus he worked hard last night. Defensive side of his game maybe doesn't get much recognition.
I don't think I've ever seen him as one of our 3 left up yet we always expect him to be up there too when balls there.

I agree, and anytime he got on the ball he used it well. He needs to get on the ball more. Not sure if thats down to him or his team mates. He's definitely one of our more dangerous forwards.

Who was the ref v Tyrone, thought he was very good, didn't fall for playing acting or players trying to but fouls. He knew the game.

Paddy Nelian, Roscommon. I thought McKinless got away lucky with that big shoulder to let Paudie catch the kickout cleanly.

That was a badly needed win. Hard to beat a Saturday evening in the city under the lights. Some very good individual performances. Clinker of a goal from Glass, reminiscent of his AI Final goal for Glen. If I'd any criticisms it would be that maybe we were a bit hasty in going for goal when points were the better option but that said it was nice to see that bite and hunger back in our attack. Any updates on young McEvoy?

Thanks, overall thought he was better than most I have seen.

Absolutely it was needed. It was the first time in so long that I felt the team were confident in their own skin, and could cope with a set back during the second half and respond positively and not doubt themselves. That was a major step forward.

I'm curious to know can umpires make black card calls? These people are generally family members and not qualified officials.

Add to that the call by the rule book was wrong, in order to get black card for cynical foul you have to pull or trip your opponent to the ground. Conn hit Lachlan a dunt on the way past and he then held him back with bit of a pushing and pulling match, this isn't a black card, maybe two yellows?
I think we have to accept that in division 2 you get division 2 standard of refs, I thought he was average for both teams.
How Gareth managed to finish the game with a yellow is some achievement.lol.

I thought the black card was for a deliberate body collision off the ball, blocking the player. Haven't watched it back but looked harsh on first viewing. Don't believe umpires can make any decision regarding on field activity, consultation was perhaps for identifying the offender. I would  care more if Derry had lost but for now putting it down as one of those  baffling decisions you see in football and accepting we will never know the reasons for the refs decision

I'd no idea what it was for when at the match, but saw that collision you mentioned on the replay - didn't seem like it warranted a black card to me. If he was dishing them out for that incident, there'd have been 20 black cards given.

100%

The last couple of years have been demoralising and there's no way it can't have affected the players. Plenty still to do but that was an encouraging performance and a confidence booster for them. Great to see them playing with purpose. I was worried when Murray was black carded too, thought Tyrone would punish us but it maybe came at a convenient enough time just before the break so they had a chance to work out how to manage it.
