Did Utd play 4 at the back last night? Or the usual 3?

It was the usual 3-5-2 up until they went 3-2 down..he then changed to a 4-2-4 formation, which got them the lead, but created (more) issues defensively with Bournemouths 4th goal coming from Amad being too high up the pitch

De Ligt is a huge loss, there's no way he wouldn't have gone across to Semenyo for the first goal and would imagine he'd have done a lot better for their 2nd and 4th goal.

I'm far from convinced this will work out but at least that was entertaining, Heaven & Yoro aren't 40 between them and having Shaw who's no leader alongside them with a keeper who's only had one full season behind him in Belgium is far from ideal. On a positive note thought Cunha, Mount & Amad were outstanding, Amad going to be a huge loss over the next month. Lack of legs in midfield is killing us, Fernandes isn't playing that well; He's contributing with goals but neither can be starting there next season. I think Mainoo will excel when he has someone who's athletic alongside him and I don't mean Ugarte who's another hopeless signing.

I suspect they'll do  their best to get rid of Zirkzee in January and go after Semenyo who can play in various positions but more importantly he's a top player, didn't realise how good he's in the air; Think he won every ball that came his way.

Yeah would agree with that- Bruno still one of the best players in the league in terms of output, but may as well not have a midfield with him there. Surely you play him in one of the 10 positions now with Mbuemo away and stick Mainoo next to Casemiro. Ideally they'd get a semi competent midfielder in January.

I would be hopefull that if De Ligt could get fit and stay fit that, Yoro and Heaven could make a good back three. The two younger lads need some proper leadership alongside them.

I do think that Martinez fully fit is the best centre back of the bunch though so will be interesting to see how it plays out as the other return to fitness.

I am a Bruno fan, he has carried this team for years, it is not his fault the recruitment around him in MF has been shocking and that he is playing in positions he never should be. He never shirks it, he is always up there in running stats and he genuinely cares. Should have built the team around him 5 years ago.

Yeah absolutely, Get De Ligt, Martinez and Yoro in with Heaven, Maguire and Shaw as back up and the CB position is solid enough, it's the 2 in front leaving them exposed thats the problem. At this point Bruno is nearly costing us as many goals as he's making, madness asking him and a player who's legs are near enough gone to play in a midfield 2.
