Look after those knees folks. I tore my meniscus in my knee in April. Absolute nightmare, couldn't sleep, couldn't drive, couldn't sit. Months of physio and an injection later and today was the first attempt at a run since then. 2k is all I am allowed .

Funny on that subject I've been talking a lot to a few ones on torn meniscuses recently. I know quite a few with them but to varying degrees. One physio reckons most runners have them but can just manage them and then there are a few who get them quite bad.

One of the worse ones was done by a runner more or less on getting out of his car.

Would strengthen of the muscles around the knee help that? I'd physio a few years ago because of knee pain, it worked out well with just that fortunately, but around that time was covid, the gyms had closed and I got out of the way of doing my usual strength work and I put it down to that..

Hopefully you get back to your normal mileage, without the pain

Hip mobility is a big factor in knee pain.

My knee pain is coming from my ankle and weak hamstrings I think. I had 2 operations on that ankle years ago and it is always very stiff and poor mobility. Everything is linked somewhere along the way. I have found that if I am not consistent with my S&C then the knees start to go.

How many majors will that be? Fair play.

This will be major number 3 if I make it to the bloody start line. Was meant to have been in Chicago but had to pull out and defer until next year with this knee injury ffs. The big 6 medal is the aim but it's an expensive hobby and it's more of a novelty medal than any sort of achievement as such. I just love the buzz of the big city marathons. The New York marathon was one of the best days of my life. 2 million people on the streets cheering you on while you run (very slowly in my case) around all New York's famous landmarks and the yanks were so hyped up and supportive. Made a holiday of it and stayed for the week. Definitely something I would recommend to anyone.
