Loughrea are no push overs and have been a steady team in Galway for many years, but unlike St Thomas's haven't got over the line, reaching one final only, after a semi final win v Cushendall..

Best opportunity for both teams and anything can happen in a final.. BTW Loughrea are happy enough with the side of the draw also

Loughrea made an awful balls of their semi-final last year vrs Na Fianna, were the better team for much of it and didn't put Na Fianna away and paid for it.

They'll want to go a step further this year as will Slaughtneil who had a glorious chance of putting Sarsfield's out right at the death..

The Johnnies await first for them though.

I fancy Slaughtneil to win Ulster with relative ease and will be backing them to get over their semi final heartache. It now or never for them on that front

Yeah hard to know what way the Johnnies will turn up, but I am hoping they do.
I fear SN will have too much for them in all departments.

I was at the Sars semi final last year and always felt that Sars had a bit more in the tank. Seeing what BG did to them last weekend, I would say sets the tone for the rest of the championship. Whoever beats BG will win it.

BH looked way off the pace but will improve as the games come at them I'd say. SN will definitely fancy themselves if they get the chance, but confidence has never been an issue for them.

Na Glinntí Glasa

I dont see anyone beating Ballygunner this year. They look very impressive again and a level above everyone else.

St Martins will be seeing this as their chance to win Leinster for the first time against a Ballyhale side who are not the power they used to be.

The Munster final will be interesting and Eire Og will give Ballygunner their fill but i still see them winning it.

S'neill will win on Sunday in Ulster. Id love to see St Johns win it but its hard to see past the Derry men who are really physically strong and also well experienced at this level.

Slaughtneil will not be troubled by St John's, even if not on full power, still be too many for the johnnies. Slaughtneil will be focused on a bigger prize. For my moneys worth, the johnnies are one of the worst teams to win the championship in recent memory, but they did what they had to do; will never be another handy one like it!!

In regards the county, the warning signs surrounding Davy were well documented.  The 4 that have stepped away is only the tip of the iceberg. Men refusing to go,17 at training a few weeks ago,  no disrespect, but to have 3 in from Creggan, and 2 in from Randalstown is mind boggling, u20 manager not letting players be part of his squad if they are with the senior set up, players absconding to other counties, the shit show surrounding Dave Tis ever sobering!!

Milltown Row2

A tad tough on the Johnnies, unfortunate last year but got over the Dall this year and beat the team that beat Dunloy..

No one hands you Championships. No easy draws.

Your forecasting of games if I remember right hasn't been great to date ;)

Heard all this chat before Rossa/Cushendall/Loughgiel.

The brain, of course, is saying the exact same, that Slaughtneil will be a step ahead, but its wildly unfair to say that a team that had been perennially in the last four for 10 odd years are one of the worst to win a championship in recent memory.

As Milltown Row said, no one hands you a championship.

Has the squad been published anywhere?

Out of interest.  Who has been drafted in from Creggan and Tir Na Nog?  Tir na Nogs two best hurlers have hurled for other counties in recent years.

That is what I was thinking as well.

Sean Duffin is one of them
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Saffron71

Sean was probably Tir Na Nogs main man in their championship run and has been on the Antrim panel before. Outside of Eamon Og McAllister (Who has been Hurling for Cavan) I can't think who else from Tir Na Nog would be in contention.  As for Creggan unless Conor McCann has decided to come out of inter county retirement, Ciaran Rice has come home from his travels or Ruairi McCann has decided to switch codes at inter county level I can't think of anyone else.

If Ruari can get his skill level up a notch or two he has the pace and conditioning to make an impression, Ogie has talent but drifts in and out of games, would like to see him up against a top defender from Div one, He has pace and directness about him that I like..

Sure what would us aul farts know
