Time to shut down the Aviva.  :o

Would be god save the king given half a chance
They played music during open play - ice hockey vibes.

Absolute woke nonsense.

Prendergast has it all, but jebus, I know O'Gara's nickname was speedbump due to inability to tackle, but even that would have been better than the 2 tries Australia got in the first half due to him "slipping" off in the tackle.

Maybe that will improve, but I don't see him starting against South Africa who have looked seriously impressive the last while even going 2nd rowers down to red cards...

England look hot favourites for the 6N's in 2026 going by their performance against the Kiwis, who are seriously below par at the minute, yet beat Ireland pulling up in Chicago.

And Ireland weren't below par in there first game in 6/7 months away from home? Should been lining up the All-Blacks this weekend? England decide to avoid South Africa?

Well, they also didn't have a great 6N's in the spring, so being below par too often then becomes par...

In saying that the Australia game was a lot better, but Australia were dire at catching the feckin ball and that allowed Ireland to dominate although Australia got some handy enough tries without having to do anything exceptional.

Prendergast it is for Saturday.

This will be a serious test of his defensive capabilities, so hope he's up for it.

Farrell keeping the Southside Dubliner brigade happy anyway.
Maybe he's deliberately setting up Prendergast to fail by a team who will bully him massively?

Wildweasel74

The lad does have massive ability, but even in Gaelic football u learnt how to tackle, so what going on in training drills that this is  major blip needs worked on. Maybe he just doesn't fancy putting in a tackle

Set up to fail or given a final chance to sink or swim. This is an opportunity for him to stand up for himself. If Ireland are beaten on the day it's unlikely to be down to Prendergast.

Wildweasel74

I dont think people realise the miss Joe McCarthy is. He one of the few with massive physicality to match the South Africans, Ryan doesn't bring this.

Certainly not, but it can go one of two ways for Prendergast.

He fails to make a few standard straight up tackles and give his detractors ammunition or indeed he shows a side of himself capable and willing to make these tackles and shows himself in a positive light.

To be clear, every player at some point will miss a tackle and Ireland will be doing an awful lot of tackling on Saturday but he needs to show everyone he isn't the easy option to get over the gain line or make a break or he will be targeted continuously throughout his career.

How was that not red?  It looks like he moves his shoulder into O'Briens head.

It was way worse than Beirnes against NZ because he had a lot more time to think about it
