Delaney left one last turd on the carpet. McCarthy on a 2 year deal, Keane as his assistant on a 4 year deal.  Kenny didn't want him as assistant and Keane refused to take any other job, so got paid 500k for refusing to work at a time the FAI were laying off staff. There was no obvious Irish candidate when Charlton got the job - they were trying to get Giles back in. Kenny's successes at Dundalk and the underage side put him legitimately in contention.
