Quote from: Jerome on August 15, 2025, 10:52:01 AMI don't think that's really true. The boys has always been classrooms and I believe so are the girls.
The girls had to change their name from 12.5 to 13 to appease some legislation and nothing was to change, expect if you are like trueblue trying to win the Go Games

Sounds like there has been enough correspondence with the meetings and WhatsApp group
Email out from CB that completely refutes the above. Talking about the championship for next week and states "Any girl born on or after 01/01/12 is and has been eligible for u13 football all year. "

Think that puts that to bed.

Certainly not, its already been stated what the official line from the county board had to be.

The agreements amongst all the clubs was unofficial but anyone going against it have some questionable morals

Not originally from here and didn't play for them but my kids are now with Dromore, I don't have a girl playing football yet but would be talking with the ladies coaches within the club regularly.

Ah here. 😂
Email out confirming the official rules. But you think clubs have an under the table agreement. We'll agree to disagree then.

YO!

He is correct though, I was at the meeting where that format was all agreed by the clubs. It was discussed a few pages back when another poster addressed it.

As someone else said it is poor timing on the fixing of the ladies semi final games. Fixtures are difficult I know but right in the middle of the men's senior fixture doesn't give the ladies game the attention it deserves

Quote from: oakleafgael on August 15, 2025, 10:14:04 AMThe issue/rule on this is/was very clear. Unlike in the GAA organised go-games which are able to set their own age grades ie. U8.5, U10.5 & U12.5 to allow children to play in school years, the LGFA rules do not permit this and only allow full years. For a long time the LGFA go-games have been organised on the same basis as the GAA go-games. P3 & P4 played U8.5, P5 & P6 played U10.5 and P7 & Y8 played U12.5. The LGFA at national level became aware of this due to a complaint about a go-games tournament and advised Tyrone that the status quo could not continue and they must play in full year groups.

All clubs attended a meeting about this and the conclusion from the meeting was that Clubs would play U9, U11 & U13 but that only P3 & P4 girls should play U9, only P5 & P6 girls should play U11 and only P7 & Y8 girls should play U13. Girls would get to play with their school year groups and that competitive football from U14 onwards was time enough to split girls into age based groups. So in effect the same groupings as before but with a different name. Unfortunately like a lot of things, you rely on people/coaches/clubs respecting the spirit of this agreement.

Regarding the point made about allowing one 12 year old to play and not another. That's very easily answered, if they are both Y8s play away, if one is a Y9 she shouldn't be playing. It's not "an U13 comp" it's go-games and people/clubs should respect that. Their is a proper U13 competition to be run once the go-games programme is finished.

This is the post I was referring to. I was at same meeting.

The last line in that now refers to this current championship that the county board have announced.

Yet the county board have stated this week that the rule is that anyone born after 01/01/12 is and has been eligible for the u13 grade this year. It's in black and white.
At best, communication has been conflicting on it from the CB.

No in the meeting the CB said no matter what is agreed amongst clubs that they had to play the party line set by Croke Park.

It has ALWAYS been the same as the boys for Go Games, classrooms.

Hopefully won't be an issue going forward with the LGFA and GAA becoming a single body.

Congratulations on Kildress for winning the Go Games.

I'll stick with the official communication of the rules thanks. I'm not from Kildress by the way. 😂

This sounds like madness and petty. Not a great look for the ladies game

Think the ladies game and the LGFA needs a separate discussion page.

LGFA are a law onto themselves, need disbanding and everyone aligned under the GAA, men and ladies.

I don't see the need for Garvaghy discussing integration. Just integrate clubs and be done with it.  Few big wigs in the LGFA will lose a wage but turkeys will never vote for Christmas.

No need for separation, LGFA obviously were fundamental getting the ladies game to where it is now and thriving, it's time to align.
