Ah lads come on. Criticism of drumsurn is unfair. The above describes their situation.
They won an intermediate league and got to a championship semi final but have they even been in a final recently? Senior was always going to be a huge step up

Agreed with this, Drumsurn has to put its own situation first and make the best of it. Looking in, I can see they are making great strides in developing their facilities, but they might not have the numbers/players to compete in the highly competitive Division One in Derry.

I wonder if those who feel compelled to criticise them are doing a big shift in their own clubs?

Anyone stand out from the weekend's football that would be a good new option for the county team?

No but I think it shows some lads need to be given more of a chance. Hopefully Div 2 will allow that.

On squad and looked good
- Cahir Mc Monagle
- Caolin Devlin
- Charlie Diamond.
- Niall O Donnell (in spells)

Not on Panel or Need them back
- Declan Cassidy - De
- Sean Kearney
- Niall Mc Gonigle
- Fionn Mc Eldowney
- Cahal Mc Kaigue (Very young but special talent)

So after another game, it is worth revisiting the players suggested and see if anyone else should be added
- Niall McGonigle - didnt see anything at the weekend to merit this.
- Fionn Mc Eldowney - yes every day, only weakness is his size but rarely does this hold him back
- Cahal Mc Kaigue - on the end of a goal but hasn't stood out for me yet.

Other options to consider
- Jack Doherty - definitely at the level but doesn't seem to want to commit
- Skinners lad from Kilrea
- Patrick McMullan - Newbridge
- Conall Higgins - Mfelt
- James Murray - Mfelt
- Peter Cassidy - Bellaghy
- Ciaran Hendry - Lavey

Every club has the same issue, that's crap, I seen Kilrea Reserve game one nite with 25+ players. Drumsurn a small place, they were never strong enough to play senior football. Derry football only strong enough for a top 12 club system but teams at the lower end of the league wouldnt go for that. What's Ballinascreem excuse for bottom of the league/championship more times than enough. Takes in 3 places, massive townland and always near the bottom.

That is a strange one alright. Ballinascreens playing numbers at underage are staggeringly good. Last year they fielded four u14 teams and this year they have three u14 and two u16 teams. Though you can't base everything on numbers, they could be possible Senior Championship contenders in the next decade.

Castledawson been playing senior football in the league since last. Its no longer a small place with housing developments compared to yrs ago. Played Senior fball on and off. Hardly comparable to a small place like Drumsurn!

Anyone with even a smidgin of interest in Derry football could name them off the top of their head, the fact you think there is none is indicative of your lack of knowledge of derry football. Stop embarassing yourself.

7 years ago, Great achievement but I think we all know that theres a limited number who move from Minor to senior. But having 4 lads of that quality and not using that as the benchmark to raise expectations? Tell me what's went wrong here?
To hanging on this as the glass ceiling achievement highlights the point trying to be made. Drumsurn are no smaller than Newbridge, Castledawson, The Loup, Faughanvale in Geography, clearly a good bit smaller in mentality but.
