Good to see coalisland with half their senior team out in the reserve championship last night beat at the end by Clonoe. Clonoe going for the clean sweep of all 4 competitions... while their neighbours coalisland are sleeping

Quote from: W.A.G. Lover on August 28, 2025, 10:11:05 AMAfter that you have a few clubs like Omagh, Carrickmore, etc who are teetering around lower end of the table every year but have enough to survive. Then above that the rest of the clubs are comfortable.

lol what? This is the first time in six years that Carrickmore haven't finished in the top 4.

2024 - Finished 3rd and lost league final
2023 - Finished 4th and lost league final
2022 - Finished 3rd
2021 - Finished 1st and won league final
2020 - Finished 4th

In the same time period, Omagh have only been out of the top half of the table twice (and only by a whisker).

Point taken on Carrickmore and Omagh, but as i said "a few clubs like" - Not explicitly those 2 clubs. I only used them as an example based on 2025 league standings. Ardboe, Donaghmore, etc are other examples - But thats not my point. My point is the gulf between the top clubs and those going down/coming up each year is massive.

So clubs like Carrickmore and Omagh. But not Carrickmore and Omagh?  ???

Heard Clonoe brought Mickey Mansell's oldest cub out of Dublin where he is living to play the final. And their top scorer in the league was also playing so it wasn't just the island that were at it
At what? The players on both teams were eligible to play... what's the problem?

Playing senior players. Where in my post did I say there was anything wrong with it? If they are eligible to play then there's no problem.
Both teams had players who didn't play in last year's championship therefore eligible for this year's reserve championship

Just think the island should have their senior players all focused on the championship next week with them not winning the league. they are division 1 team at the end of the day or so they think they are.

Surely you play your strongest team available for potential Championship title?

It was a championship final against their biggest rivals. That's ridiculous.

Naomh Eoghan v Kildress -
Think Kildress Nip it, hearing NE had a few injuries near end of league campaign. It will be a tight game so don't be surprised if either wins.

Eglish v Na Fianna
The neighbours win this game. Mentally going into the game eglish will be worried about if they will get another hiding like the league encounter.

Clonoe v Greencastle
We want our day in croke park - all Ireland intermediate champions 2025

Moy v Aghyaran
Would like to meet moy in the final to beat them again. As for Aghyaran, Ricey will be sacked.

Beragh v Drumquin
Easy enough to call here, beragh get a lot of handy first round ties but don't really ever seem to make it far.

Owen Roes v Stewartstown
Handy win here for Owen Roes, Stewartstown relegated to junior, good on them.

Aghaloo v Fintona
Tight game that would be more suited in the junior championship. Think Aughnacloy will nip it.

Killeeshil v Rock
Killeeshil to get stuck into the boys from the rock who don't like it when not played on there own dirty terms. Outside shock here but fancy an upset.

Agree with your selections bar 1. I think NE will beat Kildress if the 3 Mayse brothers play (Ryan, Tiarnan and Barry Eoin). Barry should do a job on Shea Quinn.
Only possible shock I can see is Drumquin beating Beragh

Must be an island man yourself given your thoughts. You must like the fact your team has watched it main rivals not lose a game all year and now lift its third title...

Would also go as far to say winning the game yesterday would've been worse for yourselfs as the team would've gone on the drink the whole weekend which wouldn't be great preparation for the upcoming game v Eglish

Or maybe I get the ethos of the GAA and the championship. Whether it is the Sam Maguire Cup, O'Neill Cup, any league grade, reserve, underage, girls, boys.. the championship is special. Go to any final and see what it means to the players. Of course you want to win it and put out your best team. Are you 14? gloating about how another club is doing... probably be on here slagging off Man United or Rangers at the weekend...

Yourman66

Ricey having a bad year this year...

Aghyaran didn't go to plan for him, now the senior ladies team St.Macaratans (Clogher,Augher & Eskra) are beat in the first round in the ladies championship to a young Dungannon side.

Errigal ladies seem strong wonder who's involved with them the year. Beat a talented Omagh side.

Dungannon and Trillick ladies will be hard stopped also.

What have Man United or Rangers got to do with Fianna vs Clonoe reserve championship.

I know you're not the sharpest but what I was telling that lad is he has the mentality of someone who goes on social media all the time to slag off soccer teams... a bit like yourself really unless perhaps you have two accounts here 🤔
Good luck on bringing Dregish back  :D
