Quote from: YoungSaff on August 13, 2025, 02:09:46 PMWhat is this scandal about Kavan Keenan ?

It quite literally tells you about it in the media articles in the last few days

Apologies I'll rephrase

is their any truth in it ? Surely if this is true he will not be featuring for ballymena? A dsigrace from All Saints GAC if letting him continue to play if convicted , if this was in our club I would hope to have him ousted

Is this not a Gaelic discussion board?

I'm sure he's well aware of the situation he's in doesn't need a pile of people talking about it.

Better of talking about the championship and leave that nonsense out

What do you mean leave that nonsense out of it you eejit ? Do you not know what Gaelic Games promotes ? Having lads as "role models" playing for your county after committing a hit and run in a stolen vehicle is honestly a disgrace and this fella should not only be ousted by All Saints but Antrim GAA as a whole , how can we promote the games as we have criminals playing at the top level , cowardly act if he had of manned up at the time and accept the consequences they could have been resolved and far lesser.

Take the Mark

If he wasnt a handy footballer he'd be shunned by all quarters

Duine Inteacht Eile

Next up on the hypocrisy list....

If we are happy to appoint and pay money to Darren Gleeson, we can't really stand over shunning Kavan Keenan.

Quote from: Footblock on August 12, 2025, 11:42:01 AMYeah a lot of minor games not being played but when do you play them? St Enda's able to field 2 minor teams with a team in each division and both of their teams having to field simultaneously

Just checked opponents for each on Sunday past and all 3 opponents were dual clubs.

Unfortunately if games are not played per fixture list it is very difficult to reschedule.

Clubs should make every effort to field, even if it means playing a weakened team as the alternative is often never fulfilling the fixture.

Unless Portglenone v Cargin or the like.

On the other I'd imagine club and county are in the innocent until proven area.

Everyone can't be judge, jury and executioner.

Much as some here would like to be on plenty of matters.

very true ! Just not what the game is about , especially something like a hit and run , I understand innocent until proven guilty but by god.

You haven't a clue what happened. Let's just see what comes out eh?

Can gather a fair amount from reading the news article of what he is accused of  , hopefully justice is served whether innocent or guilty , I have said if proven guilty or if true when saying what I did

Quote from: bringbackdregish on August 13, 2025, 05:07:51 PMFor him to be going on the way he did in a recent Ballymena game vs Creggan, knowing he was due up in court not long after, doesn't say much for his character does it?

Buckin apt! Was versus Cargin though. Unless he was at it in the league final too. Jumped the fence to try and fight Cargin spectators after getting sent off.

It is a difficult situation for everyone.  we all have our own views

On one hand for some the accusation alone is enough to kick someone out of the gaa

Someone else will take the accusation along with local people's knowledge to suggest the gaa take action

For others innocent until proven guilty no matter the crime, and the accused should continue to line out without action until a court decides guilt

For yet more, even if the person is guilty and punished, they should be allowed to rehabilitate within the GAA as they have done their time.

All of the above leave it difficult for the GAA and clubs, especially when the organisation's strength is its people, culture and parochial nature.

The innocent feel aggrieved at any action by the GAA however cautious, while the guilty abuse the vagueness and torment their victims by publicly representing their club or county.

Until there is a direction by the GAA Top Brass it will continue on in this manner.

How is one supposed to behave before appearing in court? Some absolute rockets on this forum.

Its not often there's a sensible post on here but this is pretty much the best summary you'll get. There needs to be leadership shown on these issues and the message needs to be consistent which it absolutely hasn't been of late.

Quote from: paddyjohn on August 13, 2025, 10:43:30 PMHe's guilty. End of story and end of debate. No matter what high profile GAA solicitor he or somebody else are paying. He left a young mother for dead on the side of the road.

Let's not butter it up or dress it up to be something it's not.

GAA solicitor? What does that mean?
