Think you might have your American news agencies mixed up. Trump calls CNN 'fake news'

Bring back club football

McKaigue was in the lough in 2022.

He then jumped ship to Ardboe for the 2022 and then 2023 season as he is mates with the horse Devlin and wanted to entice him to Derry.

He has latched on to Ardboe minors this season in the hope they might win something to massage his CV. They could very  well do as they've a very good team.

A lot of people round Ardboe are apparently hoping he gets the Derry job so they get rid of him once and for all.

I had heard something like that about Ardboe too.
I always felt McKaigue was trying to position himself as derry manager with devlin and harte, which I really didn't like when he was still playing.

He wouldn't be my pick as I've said, but if Meenagh has the job and McKaigue is his choice then then will have to trust his judgement.

Nice calm evening and you're getting ratty about it  :-\

Did they get rid of Tally on a cost cutting excerise? Don't see the difference of what's been appointed to the fact that just could dropped into his backroom team. Still think we way off were Gallagher had the team in mindset.

Quote from: STREET FIGHTER on July 21, 2025, 05:05:55 PMWas it not Martin Boyle (former Derry Minor Manager) with CM at Loughmacrory?

Not sure, but Boyle and Meenagh coached Dromore together around 2014/15.

Delighted with the set up if the reports are true. Meenagh needs no introduction, and Boyle is a top coach. I would like to have seen Deets involved in some capacity, as he has had some great experience with Kilcoo and Armagh. Perhaps too soon for Benny and Chrissy to be involved given they've just retired. But they will have my full backing.

Boyle is coaching / managing Loughmacrory this year most likely with the Meenagh connection.

I also think Boyle was drafted in to the Derry management setup in the wake of the Gallagher departure in 2023

Meant myself, its irrelevant in any case as Derry have missed the boat like Galway.

IMO we are in an era of wide open Championship football for the next few years, so wouldn't agree that the ship has sailed for either Derry or Galway. Hope I am right with the former anyhow!!
Whoever the new management team are I will be getting fully behind them and the team.  We will all have our opinions on management personnel etc but at the end of the day we are starting afresh and I would hope with plenty of desire and enthusiasm. At the end of the day we can never be sure how a management team will work out despite their previous reputations with other teams etc.   Different environments can create different outcomes and all that. When the league comes around in January and we make our way through that then I will start making judgements. Doire Abu

Agreed, we're probably not in the top 3 or 4 teams just now but we're in the top 10 for sure and if we get ourselves organised again we can be in the top 4 again. The biggest thing for me is we're getting someone in who isn't completely new to the players, so he won't be starting from square one, and someone they're going to be happy with. The appointment has also been completed fairly quickly so it'll allow the new management to watch the complete club championship and identify if there's 3 or 4 new players who would add to the squad.

Championship draw on Thursday night. Who are we thinking as front runners? Bookie odds available anywhere?

the goal was on

Not be magherafelt anyway . Devlin jumping ship again . He'll want finished up asap. Glens to lose . Newbridge biggest threat.

OakLeaf

Nothing between Glen and Newbridge. I'd fancy Newbridge to edge it. They could be set to dominate the Senior Championship for a few years now.
