If so, I'm sure you could have a guess?

Doire

guys none of us (or very few) know what exactly goes on on or is said in meetings - players/managers or at board level.  Lets try back the team.  lets try shout and support the team regardless of club affiliation.  I feel thats part of out downfall.  I was born in the 80's and grew up through the 90's with all the great teams.  Some good days put and some not so good.  I have have supported Doire through good and bad, rarely missing a game.  Lets get behind this group and show them the pride for playing for Doire regardless of club and managers.  In an ideal world I would love a management team from Doire full of pride and passion for the red & white - lets hope so.  Alot to be said for pure pride and determination and workrate above all else !

its not like a referee to make it personal? Is there a hint of jealousy I'm hearing there. Officiated over a few of their games perhaps, maybe didn't get the attention you craved?

What's the odds on Tony McEntee with McKeague bolted onto the ticket? Would Derry supporters see that as an upgrade?

With Meenagh in there too I'd be happy with that.

No.

Only men i seen as a upgrade was Jim Gavin, Pat Gilroy, outta what's out there, and travel distance too far for them. I wait and c if Gillgan calls it aday with Armagh. There's a big lack of good managers within the county. I see alot of Derry men playing there trade in Tyrone.

I wouldn't want mckaigue near it.
No management credentials and too close to the current squad.
McEntee is no upgrade.

Meenagh if he'll take it is no 1 choice in my head. He was instrumental in sorting out the derry defence when we dropped to D4 and would have had a huge say in things under RG.

Gilligan as member of the backroom team only. I don't think he's been the number 1 anywhere has he? Would be a good addition though.

People talking of Tally not getting to pick his own backroom team, I was always under the impression the backroom team for last season wasn't picked by Tally.  CB team given the lateness of the appointment. And this season Tally would have picked his own team. That was my assumption any way.

Paddy Tally has to be up there with some of the best in the business. Take Mc Kindless and those others out of the equation and any manager would have struggled. There's no doubt Derry pulled out a few superb championship performances despite not quite making it across the winning line, more than enough to suggest he was getting to grips with things.

Something not quite adding up!

I think it's time Bannside packed his bags and took himself back to the Antrim board with some of the dross you're coming out with. No interest in Derry football from reading your posts other than talking pure dung. Paddy Tally might be the next saviour of Antrim football if you're lucky.

Maghera was Black

Can't see Chrissy being involved too close to the players but I'd like to see him in the minor setup to develop as a coach (On a side note was 2025 our worst season at minor in the last decade?)

On Tally leaving I listen to an interview with him on Off The Ball 3 weeks ago giving a summary of the year and there was a a lot of excuses which I didn't like but he seemed eager to continue and build for 2026. So things must have came to a head with his plans for a new backroom team. The board clearly weren't impressed with who he had suggested to come in and with the way the year went he was in no position to dictate with the results he produced. For a so called top coach he made a mess of a the goalkeeping position and he put our best ball carrier Rogers on a man marking role against a one legged Con O'Callaghan for 50min. Derry only improved when Rogers was put in his best position.

We can only hope the board have learned a hard lesson last summer in how they go about appointing a new manager. Realistically we need an appointment before club championship begins. Meenagh seems the man everyone in Derry wants but what has really changed for him since 2023 when he was in pole position but declined. Down themselves are progressing nicely and he seems happy to be no.2 so I think we are jumping the gun with thinking Meenagh wants the job.
