Quote from: bannside on June 10, 2025, 03:46:15 PMProbably best to see how the dust settles in the next few weeks, eg Countys thinking on it, Andys own thinking on it. We are in no mad rush here...that's the upside of being one of the the first counties to have exited the scene in 2025!

There's plenty of credible candidates out there and division four is a great opportunity for both management and the team to bounce back.

Correct - we have time here to make a sensible and informed decision on what direction we want to go in

Is there that much time?

Whoever is manager will want to/need to see club championship - leaves about 6 weeks to appoint someone and a back room team (or refresh if McEntee stays). That isn't a long time.

I'd give it to Bannside before I'd even consider his (former) clubmate. And I'm serious about that.

Take that however you like but theres half a compliment in it at least.

The current Portglenone manager would be further up my pecking order than either though.

Why is that

Seems a more progressive option to me, with arguably a greater insight into the talent in Antrim in recent years at lots of levels. Has as much experience as your nomination with similar if not slightly more success.

Currently in post at his own club where I am sure he isn't getting a wage as well would say he isn't like a lot of mercenary types.

But enough about Bannside, McKeever would not be a bad shout either  :)

bannside

All hypothetical atm, let's wait and see how the dust settles.

One fella said to me recently,  "Sure who the hell would want it" as if we would be lucky to get anyone.

That's rubbish, I foresee plenty of credible interest, it's a great gig for someone.

We all have a responsibility to work hard to make sure clubs are nominating good calibre options, that's not something they normally do!

If and when appropriate of course...

Sounds like BS is keen after the Matsers gig is up.

bannside

Rule that out straightaway PJ. Plenty of good alternatives out there, let's get the right one.

Thoughts on the 50M for casement from the British Gov?
Closer to being sorted ?

Obviously the money is very welcome but with all the funding proposed,  still seems to be a big shortfall. Who makes up the difference?

YoungSaff

Why do we not just go a bit smaller than the plans for Casement ?

we already have a substantial amount of money to build something great , maybe there is reasoning it has to fit a certain size etc i am not sure but just a thought ?

Read in the irish news saying they will not downsize as they do not have plans for it and they will be sticking to what they have allowed fo4r , significant shortfall however hopefully it can be made up somewhere

Happy birthday Mick McCann. Great content from the PRO. Pity they missed mine last year.

While this connection is good to see they do need some advice on the tech front, a teams call for a large scale attendance is not the way to go make it a broadcast webinar and use a  tech platform (there are loads) to take Q&A. Also makes it easier for recording and later sharing.

They might even progress to them sharing coaching training digitally (so we don't all have to trek to darkest Tyrone on a Thursday night for a course).

Bring back club football

Kevin Brady has to be the front runner for the Antrim senior job.

Represented the senior football team for years.

Won the McRory cup in recent years with Magherafelt and the Derry senior championship with Newbridge.

No Antrim man comes close CV wise.
