Quote from: Turf on April 17, 2025, 07:05:51 AMMichael Gaine the missing farmer from Kerry.
What the hell happened him?
Such a strange case

Is he still not found? Did i read his wallet was sitting in the car outside the shop. So he never even made it that far.
Has been upgraded to a Homicide case now so they must have got some information in to change it from a missing persons case.

That's a bit strange that story alright.

I think he was last saw on CCTV getting a phone top up in town but his vehicle was found back on farm.

You'd think they could get more CCTV from the town.

Edit: they've looked through 2, 200 hrs of footage.

The authorities must have some sort of information on this to launch the operations they have so far.
The American tenant staying on the farm is the main suspect. They probably needed a warrant to start tracking his phone activity.

Saying now suspected chopped up and put in slurry tank. Gruesome. American tenant mentioned again ..

Is it possible he just fell in the slurry tank and drowned?
Then his body got shredded when the slurry was being mixed?

If a murder, it's a horrible act.

No definitely not. First place they'd have checked is if the tanks were opened. And if it was the body would literally have been right there below them.

Even for his remains to have been pulled into a slurry tanker means they were dismembered into very small pieces. A horrendous murder.

I was just thinking more from the logistics of chopping a body into very small pieces. The pump to mix the slurry before it's drained has what I could only describe as a propellor and runs at very high speed (think food processor)....could maybe have chopped the body up during mixing.

To me it looks like the  Garda  didnt check the slurry tank properly back in March and The slurry agitator dismembered the body when they contractor went spreading the slurry

They wouldn't have just lifted a lid had a quick look and said no he's not in here.
They had local farming contractors in emptying the slurry tanks, it's more likely the body was kept off-site and then dumped in afterward.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed

I see the individual arrested has been released without charge.

No doubt the CPS (or whatever RoI equivalent is) has had sight of any evidence available up to now so obviously there is not a strong enough case at this point.  The circumstance of the slurry tank / agitator etc will only add to uncertainty regarding where / when / how the deceased was killed.

Captain Scarlet

Am I right in saying the theory here is an agitator might have dismembered the body, but I am still amazed any of this was allowed near a vast crime scene...

It just sounds mad that slurry was being spread even to be honest, especially any taken from the sheds on the farm.

I do hope that is clarified on the whole in terms of the search of the pit. Like they surely has a full search of it. It's all very sad for the family as all this adds to a Netflix true crime thing that sees stories spread.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Would a slurry agitator be fit to pull a body in and chop up bones? Surely, if so, it would have made a tonne of noise and been noticed, although I guess the tractor would be going full throttle?

It's been a couple of decades since I last did any slurry work, so technology may have advanced in terms of power and design.

No chance on anything I have seen. Even if there was an agitator strong enough not to clog there would be an unholy racket as you said.

I'd say it could.
It's a propellor driven by the pto of a tractor so there's serious power there.
If you put chicken bones in a food processor it would mulch the.

Was it not that the machine broke down and when they checked it was being clogged up by parts of the body?

Not sure. My understanding was the parts were sucked up into tank and clogged when they started spreading, indicating someone chopped the body small. Probably shouldn't be discussing this.
