Except dear whitey that Democrats have been going for pretty middle-of-the-road options in most cases. They didn't put Bernie or AOC or the Somali congresswoman from Minneapolis (I've forgotten her name) up for president these past three cycles. Had there been a primary last year as there should have been, the Democratic base would have picked one of the centre-left governors, not some leftist extremist. The GOP, on the other hand, are a cult who have been dedicated to Trump and his extremist ideas for the past decade. So spare us the "it's all the Dems fault" nonsense. The GOP base want this. They actively and knowingly chose this. They're gleefully cheering it on. Give them the credit. They're more than happy to take it.

I think I'm going to have to start posting a daily reminder on this thread that the Reps and Dems in Congress had a border bill ready to send to Biden's desk, until Trump picked up the phone and ordered enough Reps to kill it in order to prevent the border issue from being solved lest it hurt his chances of reelection.

Those swing voters would have been even more likely to vote for a mainstream Republican alternative to Kamala. I'm sure plenty of them are having second thoughts as Trump and Musk take a flame thrower to everything in sight.
