Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 05, 2025, 12:29:27 AMI'm 53, I've seen the worst of teams and the best of teams..

Every dog has its day, the traditional teams always have their run, that's how it works in b most team sports.

One thing in life is true, always be nice to the people on the way up, as ya might need them on the way down, but enjoy the moment

Ah, in fairness you keep the Utd flag flying here, it's not easy and it is admiral that you do. Many would have given up the ghost a long time ago.

Amyway, this is a Arsenal thread - lets leave it to that topic.

Quote from: tiempo on January 05, 2025, 12:35:36 AMArsenal might end up bridesmaids again this year, some people might get irate, others might realise thems the breaks. While Arteta has his virtues there can be little sympathy, running Saka into the ground and playing Partay at right back is pure Dodo 🦤
Watched the game with an Arsenal supporter first thing said when teams came out was about Partay being at right back. Lewis-Skelly has done well in games I have saw but mainly at left back but would have been a better option and push Partay into natural position? Arteta runs Saka into the ground against  weaker teams then in a must win tough away game decides to start Odegaard and Martinelli who has found some form on the bench. His team selection last night definitely warrants some form of criticism.

ONeill

Playing Partay at full back isn't an issue. They were comfortable there.

The issue is at the other end. Saka was involved in a high percentage of goals. Odegaard is badly off form in recent weeks. Martinelli, Trossard and Jesus are bitty. Havertz is Havertz.

Liverpool have far more consistently good and dangerous attackers.

Arteta has sorted a defence that was a running joke years ago. At the other end, he hasn't got it quite right to compete at the very top level, as the best.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Arsenal looked a little lost again tonight without Saka. Newcastle 2-0 winners with the 2nd home leg to come.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Hard to bate a good epifony

An extremely stout performance from Toon, very impressive

The Raheem Sterling debacle sums Arteta up, boring

Look-Up!

Rumours on latest multiple rape allegations by a high profile PL player could be very damaging to Arsenal's reputation if true. Going back years too, club aware from the start but no action taken. Played every game for them, played at WC22. Many of the allegations are for multiple offences since the initial complaints.

Thomas Partay and yes if they've played him in full knowledge its a very bad look, was on twitter a couple of years back and afaik he can't travel to the US or he'd be arrested, basically they know full well, in fact everyone in the industry probably does so might even prove difficult to ship him on in the style Milan sold Tonali to Newcastle - the old holier than thou pretence must be upheld though, for sponsors investors and the fan universe, they'll find a way to tiptoe through and minimise reputational damage and impact to profits

Other cubs have acted very fast and unequivocal before this. Maybe they were awaiting for official police charges to be filed but if it turns out they were playing a known rapist, there is no tiptoeing around it. None.

Scarpered out of the US before being arrested and charged, might be a similar case close to home, and I agree, if you know something that serious there's no excuse to keep him in the fold

Funny, I saw something different. I thought it was the best they'd played since the Saka injury.

Captain Obvious

Arsenal under Arteta 700 million pound spent on five goalkeepers, eleven defenders, eight midfielders, four forwards and in six years just one trophy won and that was five years ago when the Quarter final,Semi final and final was played behind closed doors in that competition.

A new Hope might come by bringing in upgrade in manager.

He's wierd about GKs, let 2 crackers go, brought in a prospect then let him go to settle for a Spaniard, has a touch of the Wengers about him in that regard

He was with Pep when they won the league without a striker so I don't think he's sold on the role, prefers a sixth midfielder

Weird is one way of putting it, I would say he's made a pigs ear of goalkeepers since he got there. Leno has been good at Fulham but was bit out of his depth, but letting Martinez go was a huge mistake. Then got Ramsdale after a year then decided he didn't fancy him before going to Raya. Should have kept Martinez who is better keeper than Raya.
