Starmer confirms Britain considering sanctions against Israeli ministers
Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed Britain is considering imposing sanctions on Israeli ministers, as pressure grows on Israel over its conduct in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

Lord David Cameron, the former Tory foreign secretary, had been considering sanctions on Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ahead of the general election, it emerged this week.

"The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire," Starmer said in response to a question by Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey in the House of Commons on Wednesday. "Israel must take all possible steps to avoid civilian casualties, to allow aid into Gaza in much greater volumes and provide the UN humanitarian partners the ability to operate effectively."

Then minutes later, when asked for his thoughts on the Israeli attack on the hospital tents where people were burned alive, replied by attacking the presenters professionalism for asking him about it, before stating that the indident was actually a Palestinian publicity stunt, and was "created" and "fabricated with models being used" and that "Palestinian actors were used to show outrage"
