People need to learn that the only way burren will win a championship is if someone beats kilcoo for them. They completely shit themselves anytime they see the black jersey. Game was over after 5 minutes

Quote from: upandwin on October 12, 2024, 08:26:34 PMA great day of drinking and chatting before tomorrow's turning point in the Kilcoo onslaught of Down football. Talking to a few stalwarts of Down football and they're all agreed that Burren win this by 5+ points. Kilcoo will get a red card early and hopefully Moore from CPN will do us a favour the way Darren did for them a couple of years ago. Not that we'll need a favour. Would just turn a 1/2pt win in to a more comfortable watch! Odhran player of the match and Ronan McGrath x Ryan Treanor to be close behind him. The torch is about to be passed. Burren for Ulster in my opinion. Magpies aren't what they were, heard it here first folks.

Yawn...1/2pt win would be some going for a team that scored 4 points the whole game. Probably should have focused on playing football a bit more, showed poor discipline to end the game with 13 men.

Might not be what we used to be?..We didn't need to get out of 2nd gear and we were poor enough and still everything Went to plan as per usual again, another 9 points win over Burren in a final.

What age must the boys on that Burren U21 team be now that are tipped to be beating us every year? Maybe next year when they are all pushing 27/28 or whatever it is.

Well done to our men, proud as ever.

Big decision by Burren management not to play these 2 players today when they were tipped to have a big game  :-X

9 points in 2023
9 points in 2024 under different management.

Sounds like a big transfer window needed for Burren.

Although maybe if Mourne View are gonna do a big refresh across the site this winter caravans could be got a bit cheaper...

Let's hear u now...

befair

Burren were beaten before the throw in; no plan, forwards running sideways with ball, kicking for scores under pressure. Plus indiscipline, gave away 2 pts in the first half by slobbering at the ref

Sheedy

Poor enough final, Burren were brutal, kilcoo won easy without being brilliant themselves. Burrens main players went missing and its bad show that Donal O'Hare was the one carrying the threat in the second half. 1 point from play is embarrassing over 60 odd minutes and even more embarrassing was Burren players trying to start fights in the last few minutes.

As for people slagging of the ref, I thought he done a decent job and didn't get anything majorly wrong and definitely didn't influence the result

snoopdog

As easy a game as Kilcoo have got all year. Another year and Burren are further away from them than the previous year.
Absolutely miles off. If that's the 2nd best team in the county it's no wonder we were div 3 and in Tailteann Cup.

Quote from: upandwin on September 29, 2024, 09:28:20 PMNever really worried about that game tonight in truth. This Burren team have been in second gear all year and still no one comes close to beating them apart from Magpies. Kilcoo's time is up, they're not the force they were 2 or 3 years ago. I think this will be the year we see the torch being passed to Burren, who will dominate Down and Ulster football for the next 10yrs+. The talent coming through is scary, another underage championship won on Friday and beat the much fancied Carryduff while in cruise control. Kilcoo might have more titles than Burren for now but Burren are the biggest club in Down. Watch this space, Burren beat Kilcoo by half a dozen in two weeks time. It will finish most of the old guard that have dominated the last decade and they'll go back under their rock for another 50yrs.

Awkward......

Second year in a row that Danny magills marker has been named man of the match. Big game flop. Kilcoo didn't need to get out of third gear

One life one club

A very poor display from Burren today both in football and discipline. Kilcoo just did what they had to do to get the job done. The future is still very much black and white

On the brightside they've won another U14 title...

Burren got what they deserved today. No urgency when on the ball, kicking it back to the keeper every time they won it while giving kilcoo time to filter back. When they did get up the field they tried to run straight through them when Kilcoo were set up, playing right into there hands, The management has to take some blame for the Magill red, clearly miles off it today but they kept him on for some unknown reason, kilcoo weren't great either but shows how bad Down football is if they can win that easy without even getting into 3rd gear

We had a great evening of celebrating which will continue long into tomorrow. Burren could have been doing with some of the stalwarts they wouldn't have done any worse. That is the worst team ever to contest a senior final! We stevie will be under some pressure now.

Took in that game yesterday. Would try to attend lots of different county finals through the years. Yesterdays was by far the worst I was ever at. Down football is in a poor poor place. How on earth do Burren have that many county players amazes me. Was looking forward to watching the big name players on both sides. None stood out. Watched Kerr and Magill closely. Kerr tried but was well well marked by Doherty and ive seen him a few times, superb footballer. Magill should have been taken off a lot earlier and I am guessing if he was anyone else he would have been. Showed no interest in actually trying to play football. Kilcoo were poor but didn't have to come out of 2nd gear.

Best players on the pitch for me was Kilcoo - Doherty, Big McEvoy, Anthony Morgan (should be on the county) and Micheal Rooney

Motm however was a Armagh man Paddy Burns. If he is the best player on the pitch in a county final then you seriously need to question your county's level of football and expectations.
