Finals in 2005,2007 and 2009 according to wiki. Beaten by st galls in all three.

I don't think they'll win Sunday but they seem to be improving and have a chance..

Take the Mark

Ready and raring to go no doubt, they trained in Corrigan on Sunday apparently.

Sean was a massive act to follow commitment levels unprecedented and never to be repeated by a volunteer.

Not getting into bashing a volunteer.

My point was more at a systemic level we are not giving the best chance to promote our games and make a big deal of juvenile competitions especially.

PR is really a 5 person job these days, especially at county level.

Hard to do it at club level with one or two people.

People nowadays want up to the minute information.

It must be 15 years anyway since you made a final. Have any of the players even played in 1? Massive day for them, huge.

Yea, Niall McKeever played in that 09 final against St Galls. Lenny had them flying, went on to win the All Ireland that year.

Rory Gallagher played for them along with Niblock, CJ, Kieran Mc Gort, Karl, Terry et al. Just too good for us...the line a lonely place that day!

A lonely place indeed, Sundays will be no different for JMK if the result isnt in favour.

Quote from: Wee Barky on October 08, 2024, 07:56:42 AMPortglenone have been slowly building for this final, they will be ready come Sunday to put a shift in. 5/2 sounds like to big of a price considering the way LD got swatted aside in the semi final.

It is an interesting one as all finals are.   Depends which way you look at it.  Portglenone have been building for this for 6 years or they have had the easy side of the draw for 6 years and are only reaching their first final from that.  They have either swatted LD aside or simply avoided any realistic contenders.  Swatted Ahoghill aside or should have been beaten by Moneyglass.

Guess we will find out on Sunday

Wonder would Casements have proved equally impressive in their semi final success, if they had met up with their original opponents before the shuffle, which was Brigid's, at that stage.....??

Cargin +5 for me - I don't think PG1 have been tested, LD are a very poor lot

Cargin have had the hoodoo over all SW teams for about 20 years bar maybe Creggan, which might be why some of the Toome ones on this group were pushing hard for Creggan to forget about their appeal.

Good 1 Allstar, they couldnt beat a LD team that subsequently lost by a cricket score to the Ports in the next round but yes, I'm sure the Toome men would have been quaking in their boots with fear of their appeal being successful!

Would have been Cargin V PG1 and LD V NB no?

Quaking in their boots, probably not. But team they'd most like to avoid? I'd say so.

creggan have really dropped off this year and last. I doubt they'd have challenged pg1 never mind cargin.

I would also say cargin +5. Be nice to see a new winner but can't see it this year. If PG1 get a few more years under the belt I think they might win one but not sure they're ready yet.

Few more years Niall McKeever and Enda Lynn will be pushing 40. Dermot McAleese very unlucky injury wise
