At least the Euro 28 decision is made now. It was conveniently dragged out until it was obvious time had run out.

Now for some sort of stadium without the Euros/Unionists dominating the discussion.

"The decision not to proceed with Casement Park in time to host Uefa Euro 2028 is deeply disappointing and a missed opportunity not only for local sport, but for our economy," she said.
"This was a unique opportunity to create jobs, boost tourism, and showcase our island's sporting talent on the global stage.
"We will continue to work with the GAA, our local executive and the two governments to push this project forward and get these state-of-the-art facilities built and a first-class stadium for Gaelic games delivered.

Just hot air from Michelle. It's clear the UK government aren't going to put money towards the project in its current form.

Again, tidy they place up, pull the stand down, get the grass cut and get it opened
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

It will be redeveloped but not as a soccer stadium. More like Thurles or Limerick
Fans don't have to be segregated....

What's the story with automatic qualification for hosts? Hopefully the decision rules out NI seeing as they will be hosting nothing.

Rossfan

Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Proper order.

Hopefully get a proper modern reasonably sized stadium built now.

A real shame about the Euros and for Belfast and the North as a whole but sure just goes to show the Brits don't give one f**k.

They have no influence or power and the place is still run by the faceless men and women as before. They may have nice titles and big offices but it means nothing. They can do nothing unless their masters allow them to. For weeks they have have been promising Casement, City deals, road builds etc, etc.
Should they go back to shooting the Brits instead?

No, they should get a move on and get a United Ireland Do you think that SF will be proposing that the Apple money be used to create a unification fund? They will in their hole.

Don't worry. Colum and Claire will sort it all out from the green, green benches of Westminster.

Don't worry first minister for all Michelle will sort it all out from the big seat at Stormont.

Saffrongael

It was some vanity project by Antrim GAA, Ulster GAA & I know some of you are easily offended, but Sinn Fein as well.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

What odds about the Euros? A decent GAA stadium is needed at Casement Park. The British government is never to be trusted. If we don't know that by now...
GAA is an All Ireland organisation: this €13 billion needs to be allocated and distributed... obviously housing/poverty a priority but GAA should be getting funds towards Casement Park from it too. It's a lot of money.

Sportacus

Baffled by Sinn Fein statements, STILL begging the British Government.  Build it with the money that is on the table and tell the NIO to fcuk off - we need that moment. Stop going round in circles, and get it done.

A pure vanity project that will be empty for two thirds of the year.

Oasis and ACDC money needs to be distributed. How much more hand-out do the GAA need for a vanity project?
