GAA doesn't do marketing or promotion
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Fella in work, no interest in gaa but his kids play, they want to go to watch Down in the tailteann final, then he says 55 euro a ticket? no chance he says.

When I was a kid 80s and 90s my da and especially my uncle used to take me to Down matches all over the place, great days. Is there that same connection now a days, I don't think so.

I'm still going but it's out of blind loyalty, definitely dont feel it's value for money especially for a family.

Tailteann semis, 10500 attendance, give out free tickets to competing counties and try to boost attendance, try to make it a club day out at a reasonable price, try to promote the games instead of letting then stagnate.
Yeah all very true, day out in Dublin is expensive enough anyway due to things outside the GAA's control they could at least try to encourage attendances by making the prices reasonable for tickets and food/drink.

What about a scheme for all clubs in Down/Laois to run buses up to the final say a free adult ticket for every 10 kids tickets the club takes, get children out to watch people they look up to in Croker can only be good for the game.

Thats as big if not bigger issue than what's happening on the field.

The addiction to money (a lot more wages needs to get paid these days) is digging away at the foundations of what the GAA was meant to be about. Can't see a way to fix that.
It's a lot easier to sing karaoke than to sing opera

Rossfan

If money is the issue - 20,000 @€10 brings in as much € as 10,000 @20.
Thousands of children free can results in lots of € for the next 50 years+.

I see Down are having a children's meet and play with the players next weekend.
HQ should have been getting all 4 semi finalists and both finalists to do that anyway.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

another gripe is the way the tickets are sold for croke park,
was online and all left are behind goals and in the corner.
have no interest in buying these tickets for €55
we all know that decent seats are still being held back
upper decks at hogan/davin not yet for sale
why?

why not family ticket, two adults £55, two kids u-12 free

genuinely am surprised at the fact that this is Armagh`s biggest game in 20 years and  there is very little buzz about Newry etc for it.

Are tickets going through your clubs? I'd expect that most members will get decent seating

don`t believe so as would be notified by now and club facebook is referring members to ticketmaster.
i am sorted as such but brother wanted to go with a few mates etc( not big fans and wouldn`t be in croke save for a concert) don`t want him to end up in the corner and  spend the rest of the month giving me grief.
was simply saying the gaa don`t help themselves

This is not a reflection on your post or situation, but I've no problem with bandwagon supporters sitting behind the nets  ;)

Not sure why they don't keep say lower hogan best seats for season ticket holders and put the rest on general sale. First come first serve for the rest release all at once.

And no chance should a seat on the halfway line be the same price as one in the corner.

Croke park management set up I'd assume have to gauge numbers looking to come and staffing such a place with stewards and security and all the other stuff that you don't see going on in the background.

Recently I've started doing steward at events, concerts and sports, anything to get me outta the house  ;) anyways it really gives you an insight into the actual planning required and the manning (if that's a term I can use  ;)  ) of such events.

The drip feeding of seats being open will totally depend on request for tickets

What's the feeling for numbers now?

not sure tbh.
would say circa 50k for saturday might be the limit
60k sunday as teams have  a bigger supporter base

Down will take a decent crowd as well.

Kerry only travel to finals, not sure about Laois.
