If you check tonight's results should help answer your question

John Martin

Nothing on their twitter or loughinislands and results not showing on the website yet but from context I'll assume they didn't field.

Am I right?

Result on the site says Bredagh won 9-2. Perhaps someone could elaborate?

I see Drumaness look set to survive division 3. There was a poster on here ranting after they lost a game or two about how they shouldn't have bothered appealing their relegation. Looks like it's working out for them....

Island had a club wedding - we were on to get this game rescheduled from tonight for weeks. Couple of 1sts available to play but Fielded majority of the 2nds team to play Bredaghs 1sts.

Thanks for clearing it up

Bredagh aren't obliged to change to suit another club & obviously they saw this as an opportunity to pick up a couple of much needed points but it goes against the ethos of the association.

Efforts should be made to accommodate other teams where possible.

Have heard the club agreed to switch the game but the outside paid management team were against it.
Poor leadership from the club committee & looks like the tail wagging the dog!

Unfortunately with the huge money involved these days, management teams will be less likely to agree to a change as the easy 2 points help justify those wages at the end of the season.

Big win yesterday. I thought Sligo would run Down close. Hope young Savage is OK.?  Down did make it tougher than it should've been we messed up a lot of scoring opportunities. And silly things like steps and throw ball.always good to come out on top of a tough battle like that. No idea what to expect from Laois they've turned it around since last year. That and the factor of the added pressure of being massive favourites Coul see another close game.

It was good to see the team show they had the mentality to win, after what was overall at times a disjointed performance. Some nice football played, some greats scores, along with a few missed opportunities. To drive forward and grab those last couple of scores after probably putting themselves under unnecessary pressure was good to see. Great entertainment too which these days can be hard to find. Yes there were flaws but hopefully the tough test will stand to them. Last year's easy semi final done them no favours. Laois will be vastly improved this time and it'll be a massive test again.

Truth hurts

Yesterday's sending-off rescued us. However, we were quite porous, so we need to strengthen the defence and make improvements for the final. Regarding Bredagh, that's not in line with the spirit of our games. Their committee ought to have had the guts to say "wise up".

From what I heard from those at the Loughinisland/Bredagh game the whole second half involved Bredagh playing the ball on the half way line, sideline to sideline between themselves, making absolutely no effort to score. Score was 8-2 at HT and finished 9-2

Why shud efforts be made? I know a club that wasn't change a few years ago as it didn't fit in with their training schedule. Graveyard mass, confirmations etc are all accommodated - why start with weddings. Games wud never be completed...

I would think that any club that makes their request in timely manner, should be accommodated insofar as possible.

Btw a current player's wedding is probably the most valid reason imaginable for moving a game. Anyone who puts in a shift for years for their club should be able to enjoy a summer wedding without having fears that doing so might jeopardise his club's season.

100% and the request was made before the season began I believe. I suppose you just have to accept it and move on, but every club will need a favour at some point worth remembering..
