Magherafelt at 15/8 with the bookies seems a bit crazy, while Newbridge are quality of that there is no doubt I would have thought a lot closer to a 50/50 game. Newbridge still look very hungry 3 in a row for them is a staggering achievement if they pull it off given how they'd of been thought of not too long ago

I would half expect a bit of "real" trouble as well to kick off around this. They will never get down that road but they aren't going to take it lying down given a legal determination has been quashed. It only takes one header to light the touch paper. Band culture is rotten to the core and these applications for the lower Ormeau and G Road are an absolute embarrassment - I do think there is a significant silent element in unionism that are moderate and can see through this BS for what is. You aren't going to see them piping up on social media as much as wee Kenny from the estate in Newtownards is the only thing

I thought that was a red as well. An unlucky one from Rian's point of view but did look high and dangerous. Them ones are the ones that you feel sore about when they go against you in fairness I can see the other point of view

Quote from: Canada-Goose on October 12, 2026, 03:04:31 PMQuick update, £455 so far for all games

Embarrassing. Derry streamed their junior final for free on Saturday. While I do not expect that, £17 & £18 for junior / intermediate games as well as the brazen decision to make it Sunday 6:30pm just to cash in as much as possible is absolutely worth questioning. Does anyone challenge these calls at AGM? Where does the line get drawn?

Inagh Kilnamona winning the Clare SHC on Sunday seems like a strange amalgamation from the outside looking in. Read in an article that they were bitter rivals for years and played each other in an intermediate final in 1998. Maybe the demographics called for it but that seems a dramatic change to be joining forces only 10 years later. Usually it's one club hanging on to existence not both competing to get into senior. Would there be bitterness in Clare about that?

Was their first title since joining up - Thurles Sars also back on top in Tipp. St Finbarr's in football and hurling finals in Cork - favourites for both but not by much

Quote from: Sleater on October 12, 2026, 09:51:04 AMbased on teams left, who'd be favourites for IFC and JFC?

Ballybay who were Monaghan SFC winners 4 years ago would appear to be very strong contenders in IFC. How are Pomeroy shaping up?
Lacken, I imagine  would be strong JFC contenders? Previous winners Drumhowan (hot favourites for Monaghan JFC) are a better version of themselves than they were a few years ago, when they last competed in this competition.
Fintona will be there, thereabouts if they are off the bar stool by that stage

Extremely lucky on Saturday night. In fairness to them they missed a bagful and everything Stewarstown hit went over but relying on a last minute goal was surprising for such heavy favourites. I thought they would win by 10+ myself.

Pomeroy very lucky as well - should have been out of sight but Rock missed some sitters near the end. Looking at a replay without Frank Burns through suspension it could get tricky enough now for them. Would still fancy them but they very easily could be sitting this morning asking how did we throw that away

Quote from: square_ball on October 11, 2026, 10:42:02 AMX-Factor star Eoghan Quigg seems to be their main scoring forward. Must be a decent enough player.

Have heard for years he is a good footballer, good soccer player too by all accounts. I think he kicked a bagful in the semi final as well

Scored a mere 2-05.

Junior B final be equivalent to a reserve final? I thought his club was intermediate

Have Lavey got over the line against any of the supposed "big 4" in Derry? Just from an outside perspective they seem to be the gallant losers every year, will never lie down even though underdogs but can't get over the line either

Errigal seem to have gotten a bit nastier, they're getting in the opposition's faces constantly now. Not a bad thing for winning games.

Loughmacrory had a good enough year as defending champions, with a kinder draw might have gotten back to the final that's not bad going. Will be there or there abouts the next few years you'd think.

Errigal have played the long game well this year, I probably put too much stock in league performance / number of injuries they were supposed to have had as they didn't look up to much. Different prospect entirely now

Jesus. I fancied Donaghmore tonight but that's as bad a no show as you will ever see. They've a while to go yet to remove the tags that follow them. For edendork, to play that well without McCurry firing has to at least offer a bit of belief for county final day

Quote from: Onhisboot on October 01, 2026, 12:16:14 PMWhos the predictions from each county?

Fintona and Pomeroy should both be relatively strong in Tyrone. Fintona if it goes as expected are about to win as easy  a championship in Tyrone as you will ever see - Junior champions at an absolute canter. They never should have got relegated last year their junior days should have been over. Massive under performance in intermediate last year. Won't be seen in junior again for a long time.

Pomeroy were beaten by AI winners Cullyhanna by 1 point in the first round of Ulster last time they won intermediate (Aidan Nugent last minute free) so obviously would fancy a cut at it if they beat their local neighbours Rock in Tyrone final. Interestingly the first round is Tyrone v Down and the favourites are Pomeroy and Rostrevor. Hugh Pat McGeary formerly of both Tyrone and Pomeroy now plays for Rostrevor - would be playing against all his best friends and brother should that come to pass.

Quote from: AustinPowers on September 29, 2026, 09:07:33 PMWill  AGGGUUERRRROOOOOO be consigned to the dustbin  now, never to be spoken of  or seen again?

Will be forever judged in the manner as we look at Ben Johnson the Olympic champion Or Lance Armstrong seven consecutive Tour de France winner nowadays.

The word Scam used 8 times in yesterday Premier League damning statement. The lads in charge at City need to stop embarrassing themselves and take their punishment now.

And among that punishment should  be to get stripped of all titles won in that period and removed from the Premier League.

I suppose only for the history books , but other than that it's fairly irrelevant.

You can't , for example, bring the United  2012 squad back, 14  years later to receive the PL trophy,  and have a open top bus tour. Especially since most have retired or playing  for a different  club. Would just be weird. The emotion of the day  is gone, and  recieving a belated title is a hollow victory .

So, a big fine, they'll have no bother paying it. Remove a few trophies, meh whatever. The main thing  that has to happen is down to  league two or lower. A points deduction  or even relegation to the championship would  be an absolute cop out.

I agree that City should be stripped of titles and possibly demoted or whatever, but you can't start retroactively redistributing trophies, because where does it end?

How many teams missed out on CL or other European spots because of City's cheating? How many teams saw their advances in Euro competitions come to an end once they met City? What were the immediate and future financial implications for those teams?

Plus, any retroactively awarded titles will always be asterixed and basically meaningless anyway, having been stripped of any contemporary joy or satisfaction.

Rugby league in Aus had a similar scandal with a Melbourne team who were serial winners while not sticking to the salary cap. Stripped of their titles but no one was awarded them after the fact
