It says a girl who is a member of the GAA club. I can't imagine she was sent by the club and if was official representative would surely be the Chairman or other senior member. I don't rem any word at the time about that... would have been very controversial.

It was very controversial... I remember the committee at the time had to contact the Ulster Herald to delete all posts about it due to the backlash we received.

Quote from: HalfBack7 on February 05, 2025, 11:14:33 AMAll not well in Gortin. Full Committee stepped away! :o
They terminated the link with Glenelly against previous agreements between the two clubs. Didn't sit well with a lot within Gortin.

From what I hear it's the opposite. A group of parents totally against the link with glenelly and have forced the committee out because of it

they want their children to play for gortin only
Where they playing for Glenelly sides at underage level?

Gortin & Glenelly combined are Both Domhnaigh
none of those teams are in the latest minor gradings but the gradings appear strange - a lot of teams in Grade 2 and only 3 teams in Grade 4.

Mondays crisis meeting was a low point for our club. Some low blow comments made on the night. In the end up Thatcher Keenan and the rest of the committee walked. I hope more KC / Omagh lads join us to allow us to field on our own going forward.

How could a club ever survive after inviting prince charles to their pitch and making him tea and all. Disgraceful club.
I don't think that is actually true. Wasn't it a men shed or community group? Scurrilous bullsh*t to say that
Unfortunately Wednesday 13th June 2018 was another low point in our clubs history. We invited Charlie & Camilla to a training session / meet & greet. Lest we forget the committee at the time for organising and allowing this to happen. Even worse the crowd of club members / players who shook their blood stained hands. The videos and news reports off the day will linger over the club forver.

Looking at their games left I'd say they might stay up. Still worrrting times for them. Coaisland got rid of their management recently, will carrickmore players do the same. The game has moved on a lot since Monroe last managed it seems.
I'd be certain this will not be the case in Carmen. Yes we haven't started the season well but in reality this past few years has been a matter of assuring safety with anything above that being a bonus. I have full faith that the 3 men at the helm are the right men for the job and will get us through this 'transition period' which is breeding successful minor and u16 teams through. Frustrating as an onlooker to see the performances produced vs Killyclogher, clonoe and 2nd half in Omagh cannot be maintained consistently.

They have better players on their reserve team than they have on the senior side.Penrose Donnely Gormley and Daly all on the wrong side of 35. Holding out positions from some excellent youth players. Some big decisions to be made in Carrickmore but they have to much quality not to turn it around a few men need to be sent off to the glue factory.
It's impossible for any club to just flog these experienced players and expect a bunch of 18/19/20 year olds to compete at a high level with no experience or advice from such players. Carmens injury list also not helping the current league form with another 2 serious injury's today, penrose (suspected achilles) and young ciaran cuddy who was stretchered off at the end of the game with what looked like a cruciate injury!
A few of the successful minor team of 2016 are going to America for the summer which wont help things.
