The management have brought in lads who dropped out of the panel after a few weeks and at the same time left out others from last years squad. The overall depth has been left light and it has come back to bite in a Championship game. There's always going to be a group that will get limited game time but the lack of loyalty and development of players outside a small group is now showing up. They even show this by the subbing of a player they brought on. A throw back to previous years. Not things top management teams do who want to keep a tight group of men working in the same direction.

Pity as both of them have plenty of potential.

Dropped not opted out.

Some nonsense talked on here. When Derry don't do well it's now all down to North Derry not contributing. Yet some are quick to call certain players out basically because of where they are from while not mentioning others. All this chat of club culture. Good players are good players. Donegal have a few players from Junior and Intermediate who do well. Same with Armagh. Is their 'culture' different from north Derry clubs. Fellas are obviously in on merit and made to feel part of it irrespective of club or grade.

Quote from: Ryan O on February 22, 2025, 10:15:14 PMWhy is Mc Carron not getting a mention for two absolute shocking displays in last two weeks. His work ethic in a Derry jersey is a disgrace. Tohill is poor on the ball but he puts his heart amd sole into it.

We are regularly getting caught with one of our main me as 1 of the 3 forwards, Glass, Rogers, CD. This is poor game management. At one time tonight 3 up front were Glass, Mc Guigan and Paul Cassidy three big leaders reduced to 3/4mins of spectating.

Neil Mc Nicholl is miles off the standard, not a county keeper as we know but he hasn't the ability to be out the pitch either. , he isn't confident enough up the pitch to take scoring opportunities. Sure a more mobile Lynch is a far better option.
Martin Bradley i think is doing well enough from having just broke into squad. Personally would keep him there.
Tonight was the worst display from Derry in 4 years, flat, lazy, soft on ball naïve when on the ball. Lads pointing and moaning at eachother.

You seem to have something against McCarron might be the reason no one else has mentioned it. He gets the worst word in your mouth. I wouldn't have him on the team but he is nowhere near as bad as you make out. Agree with the rest of your post though.

Just think the lad is totally out of his depth. Would he make one of Glens starting 6 forwards?

Some like to pick on certain players because they haven't a clue. Struggling everywhere but let's pick on someone. Obviously someone with a grudge

Yes I tramped down the road to Dublin to hold a grudge. You tell me who else in the last two weeks who started both games has had as little impact?  How many on that bench have got no opportunities this year at all. Look how ruthless he hooked Mc Grogan today? Don't come with some poor personal vendetta story when he's getting more than fair share of game time..

Ah poor you. We'll start a collection for you.Plenty of players struggled today.

Hard not thinking we could have been where Armagh are now

A disaster for Derry if that happens but looking likely. Never heard of LCC. Obviously a crowd that are not that worried about their reputation if that comes about. Yeah if you look Armagh we can only think what might have been. They have Sam up the road with no underage success for years. A win based on spreading the net wide and getting a big panel of lads bought in to the whole thing. A good few of them not playing senior football in Armagh. Its all about who is leading it and the man to do that for Derry isn't going to be RG.

I would say the rumour is nonsense but you've never heard of LCC????

Among other things, they own the GO stations and have annual turnover and profits in the multi-multi-millions.

Nope. As I'd say most would if asked about them.  Why a company like that would want to be involved in a County with the senior team with a man like that in charge is hard to understand if it comes about.

Quote from: ONEDerry on July 09, 2024, 11:45:38 AMI find it hard to believe that with all that is known about Gallagher so many people would be ok with having him back. Hopefully there are enough players with principles will say they will have nothing to do with it. I'd say Ladies players who play for the County will vote with their feet and rightly so.

I find it hard to believe that so many people "know" so much about Gallagher.
Reading social media is not knowing.
The only facts I "know" is that his ex made the public allegation, gallagher wasnt charged and the GAA have lifted any ban.
What else do people know?
I've said before, if he was found guilty of something I'd be the first man calling to get rid of him and that's it's jail he should be in. But the court of social media doesnt wash with me.

Any decision made should be a footballing decision.
Or else Central GAA need to issue regulations around participation, in any manner, for anyone with any type of criminal history or accusations made against them. It would have to apply to players, management, boards, clubs, counties etc.

I know enough and not just from social media chat what sort of bucko that fella is. I can't put on social media how I know or what way I think he should be handled. Derry GAA is in the gutter if they bring him back in. But look if people are OK with that it's up to them.

You're proving tbricks point here

Hard to argue with tbrick. If boys were so sure of their "facts" they'd have no issue posting them.

Right didn't realise this was a court and not discussion forum. Sure go ahead put your man in and create more division.

It's only being made a big deal of because of Cahair has the inside line. Counties who haven't had the recent success Derry have had  are doing this and we hear nothing about it. As has been said the income from the last couple of years and the run the county with the big attendances at games more than covers it. He's of no help to Derry that man and just enjoys stirring it.

So clubs who cried about relegation from leagues being unfair due to having to play without their county players are now crying that they are in a relegation playoff after playing 4/5 championship games with their county players. Absolutely pathetic that they have went to ulster on a technicality, when in theory the approach taken would have benefitted the 'better' teams. Coleraine are going nowhere and will be an intermediate team (and maybe lower) in the not too distant future anyway, and Screen are just treading water at senior, a year at intermediate to rebuild would maybe be a good thing. Arrogance and entitlement are awful.

That's about it alright. They should just do the draw again with no seedings based on the championship group places. That's what their appeal is supposedly based on. The very thing that was there to benefit those who won games in championship groups they have the problem with.

A complete shambles. Everyone new 4 went down this year. The seeding if anything was put in to benefit the clubs that finished higher in the groups.

Those 8 clubs should have been put in 2 groups of 4 and played each other round robin. Bottom 2 in each group goes down. That way teams have a few games to save themselves rather than a one off match. If that had been the case I'd say there wouldn't have been the same objections. Looks like relegation won't happen this year so it is a bit shambolic but maybe it suits the powers that be also.

Maybe but that's not the way it was set up from the start of the year. To take it to Ulster on the basis of technicality about who they would play in the relegation match based on the seeding doesn't look good for them or the County.
