GAA Discussion / Wexford Vs Meath
April 04, 2007, 12:39:52 PM
Wexford need to win by +8 points. A Meath win will see them top div 2B and avoid Monaghan in the semi's. But if Meath lose by less than 8 and Cavan beat Waterford (more than likely) Cavan go top. If we draw and Cavan win by +14 points, Cavan go top.

This weekends going to be interesting. but i expect a Cavan and Meath win.

I sick of people going on about "there were kids at the game, bad example blah blah blah". Really annoys me when people use that to demonise their opponents.

Crokes need to shut up. ye'd swear there was never a punch or a kick thrown in a GAA match before or that they're all saints them selves. they've really brought a sour athmosphere over the Club Final. If theres an issue for the refereeing and the GAA to sort out.

the video section leaves alot to be desired. I know what and how to a chip , a solo, how to catch a ball. even the quality of video is pretty poor. how about up to date highlights of league games, highlights of classic games, interviews??? hmmm,

RTEs coverage lately hasnt been worth the steam of our piss. I love the NFL and NHL yet they dont give it the time of day. Might as well go over to sky or setanta, or TG4  or God forbid TV3. I agree with almost every comment being made here. A program that shows highlights from EVERY game is whats required

GAA Discussion / Olly Murphy
April 01, 2007, 12:44:21 PM
Just want to say thanks to Olly Murphy for his efforts and the memories and the glory he has brought to Meath. He was one of the best forwards in the country from 1998-2001. Who'll ever forget the goals he got against the Dubs, Kildare, Cork.

But one that stands head and shoulders above the rest for me was "the clincher" against Westmeath in 2001. To score of his left in a congested goalmouth and practically falling over at the same time, and still place it in the top corner of the net, in the dying seconds of the game!!

Sadly injury robbed him of further glory in the green jersey over the next 5 years. But having said that and walk away with 2 All-Irelands, 3 Leinsters, 2 All-Stars is pretty impressive no matter who you are.

Meath 4-12
Waterford 1-6

With a winning margin of 15 that puts Meath temporarily on top of 2B.
Division 2B looks like this for now till tomorrows games but todays game gives us a bit of breathing space on points difference. a scoring record of 13-68 pretty good going, Conceeding 5-60 is little above average accross the league.

Pos Team       Pld       PD       Pts
1 Meath           6      +32        11
2 Cavan           5      +18         9
3 Wexford       5      +18         8

Ok its currently 2-6 to 0-3 to Meath.

In other Meath related news From Setanta Sports:

Meath's Ollie Murphy has announced that he has retired from intercounty football.

The veteran forward, who plays for the Carnacross club, won an All-Ireland medal with the Royals in 1999, scoring the decisive goal in that year's All Ireland final.

He also won an All-Ireland medal with Meath in 1996 and won three Leinster senior medals throughout a fine career.

Murphy was twice named an All-Star but has struggled with injuries in recent years.

Id like to think we've improved, Wexford is going to be our biggest challenge since the Cavan game. These next two weekends are going to be intriguing to say the least. I still fancy Meath and Cavan to top the group.

you can watch the highlights on www.tg4.tv

The only cynical styff you can see on it comes from a tipp player doing a late hit on Kerins after Kerins stole a sweet one off the hurl of one of the Tipp midfielders and shrugged of the challenge of another Tipp player. But they're only highlights,
