It should be points difference, but as this is the GAA, I expect it will be head-to-head like last season (when Monaghan were relegated from D1, despite being 6th in the table).

The official guide is fairly clear - when 2 teams are involved it's head to head and any more than 2 it's scoring difference.

Remember the "Greg Harkin" thread from about ten years ago?

Wasn't it related to the Rossie's naked pool escapades?

Just out of interest who would be the longest serving manager in Tyrone club football?

Sean Teague I'd imagine

Not too many lads on that panel without an All Ireland Minor, Hogan or Sigerson medal - 5 by my reckoning.

GAA Discussion / Re: Joe Brolly Endorsing Drugs?

For a start the thread title is misleading and should be changed. He in no way endorses drugs. As for the issue of alcohol abuse as someone who has witnessed the horrors of it at first hand what Joe Brolly is endorsinhg is in no way akin to alcohol abuse. He quite rightly states that it is a complex issue which goes beyond the sop that Clowney in his best cheshire cat impression is backing.  A greater show would be for them to change their sponsorship deals with major alcohol suppliers. That would be a better way of doing it.

Correct. It just smacks of cheap publicity. If the GAA were serious about the Alcohol issue they'd do well to start by reducing the number of bars in Croke Park which is almost beyond a joke at this stage.

Balls. If you lift your hand you run the danger of walking. Doesn't matter if it's a club game or an All Ireland Final. Build a bridge lads.

Philly Jordan - the only Ulster member of the 4-3-2-1 club

4 All Stars
3 All Ireland Senior medals
2 All Ireland U21 medals
1 All Ireland Minor medal.

Absolute legend.

When talking about the relevant strength of club sides using the last 5 years is a very good guide.
Whether Carmen had periods of dominance or Errigal had periods of dominance the facts are now the standards of these clubs have fallen back and one wonders why a once dominant club like Carmen is now in the doldrums and a new club like Errigal couldn't fulfil its early promise only those involved can answer.
Only Carmen people know what is going on , for example how much has been paid out to coaches or managers these last 5 years ?Maybe zero ,I don't know but it would be interesting to know from those close what has happened to a once strong championship club?

When Ricey and McCullagh go there's a chance Dromore will be in the same boat. Both Carmen and Errigal have a number of exceptional footballers still playing that have won Championship medals but when players like Ronan McGarrirty, Brian Gormley and Seamie McCallan or the Canavan's and Eoin Gormley retired from Senior Football they weren't the same teams without them - it's almost impossible to replace players of that calibre in a couple of years. Both teams have been perennial contenders since though and that's as important as anything else when it comes to winning championships - there haven't been many sides that come from nowhere to win one.

Tyrone 86 as a matter of fact Errigal were not , if you want to deal in facts Errigal have 2 championships in the last 11 years .
Dealing with facts again Errigal have not been in a senior football championship final in the last 5 years.
Dromore are the benchmark.

Mea culpa, Carmen were the top team over the last decade until yesterday, I got the 2000 and 2001 finals mixed up. The point I was trying to make is that these things are very subjective. The last 5 years have been Dromore's time and full credit to them. These things come and go. Errigal and Carmen had their time from the mid 90's to the mid 00's, Trillick and Ardboe had their's before that and, in the next 5 years, the smart money would be on Coalisland adding another couple of O'Neill Cups to the total.

It will be worse next year with the All Ireland finals reverting to the 2nd and 4th weeks of September.
