They didn't speak Irish in Kilkenny for a very long time.

they were too busy playing hurling cricket.

Henry and Walter are both very common names in South Kilkenny. Its no different from other parts of the country that have common names, such as Fergus in Clare, Jarlath in Galway, etc.

Lots of Walters in Waterford too.

fixed that for ya BT :)

fair play to KK on Sunday, better team won in the end and Shefflin really is a super player. Just watched it again on Setanta and the tackling from KK was just ferocious, pity we couldn't kick on when we got it back to two points of a difference but in fairness this is a fantastic KK team. possibly the best ever so no shame in losing to them. Probably Tony Browne's last game at this level but despite losing he can leave intercounty hurling with his head held high after last years disappointment / collapse. Still we have a bit of hope for next year after this and you never know....

forever the optimist I suppose...

Just watched the 2004 Munster Final to get the buzz going. Some serious points (and misses) from Flynners. If we get a couple of goals on Sunday you never know, no one expects anything so maybe that might help...

COME ON THE DEISE!!!

think we'll win if our midfield can make any inroads agasinst the Limerick midfield who wiped them out the last day.

Waterford by 4

Limerick traditionally have it over Waterford though so maybe that will stand to them and will bouy them up to drive on for victory . It really is a very hard game to call but I'll go with my heart and  say Limerick by two .

Is this the same Limerick who've beaten Waterford once in the championship in the last 8-10 years?   ;D (the day of Clem Smith skullduggery on Mullane / the big comeback )   :-*

Prediction1 : Waterford to beat Limerick by two points on Sunday with Waterford's forwards just shading a low scoring contest. Eoin McGrath to be bursting out of his skin.

Prediction 2: Davy Fitz to hog the limelight to "take the pressure off the team"

Prediction 3: Poor Crowd of 26,759

Prediction 4: The winner to beat a vastly over-rated Tipp team in the Munster final (apologies to any Clare fans)

Prediction 5: The chip vans of Thurles to have their most profitable day of the year with both sets of fans reknowned for their love of battered greaseballs

Prediction 6: Limerick fans wearing Munster rugby jersies to be pilloried mercilessly (well maybe that's just my personal wish)

he's not the type of punter to give a shi-ite about what people think of him, top scorer in the championship last year, so good on him...

Hurling Discussion / Re: Waterford V Offaly
July 17, 2008, 08:49:42 PM
am very nervous about this one...was hugely impressed with Offalys performance last week. The hunger and stickwork they displayed against Limerick was something else

agree with ya AZ, goals will decide this one, hopefully Dan The Man can reach the form of last year on Saturday, he played a bit better vs Antrim than in the first game where he was miles off the pace of championship hurling. Seamus Prendergast -hopefully if he is fit enough- will be an addition in the forwards.

Hope the WD team have been practising avoiding getting hooked and blocked all this week as Offaly are kings of this kind of tight stuff!!

Reckon Galway will win the other game which looks like it will be equally tight

No point in letting Justin without having a new manager ready to replace him.

if Donal O'Grady would do the job I would like him to be brought in instead, I think Justin has had enough time at this stage, terrible news regarding Ken McGraths injury, hope it's not as bad as it sounds  :(
