I'm going to join in this back slapping here and say congratulations to all of the Race Day Committee on a fantastic day and a great piece of work for the Club, and thanks to all those people who supported the day.

I really enjoyed myself despite getting cleant - not a winner.

Andrew Nesbitt was great but I was a bit disappointed that Aoife Darragh wasn't up for auction because I was prepared to go large! :)

QuoteProud to be a Harps man!

I couldn't agree more!

Bennydorano was telling a friend of mine today to watch out for a horse out at Fairyhouse on Saturday called Will Freight!  Good thing! ;)

QuoteB football is not an option for Jp

I don't think anyone was suggesting that! ;)

QuoteIf the B leagues were run along-side the senior leagues as in Tyrone, then this would perhaps stop the on-going outflow of footballers to the likes og Mullabrack and might actually strengthen the weakening club situation for many clubs.

I couldn't agree more!

QuoteNO gaa member should be denied the opportunity to play gaelic games at their chosen level and the Harps are clearly assisting in this with their delaying tactics.

Wanting to hold on to your best players is no sin.

Quoteam not aware of all of their reasons but know that 2 of the players are unable to give the commitment required for senior football with a club of the Harps

The Harps have a B team (which has been successful in recent years) if it's football they're after.

They also have something in the range of 14 under age teams (these fellas migh remember playing for themselves) - all of which could do with help - especially from an ex Senior player.

You get my drift?

Now I'm not entering into a debate here, but with all things considered, I'll repeat if the player wants to go the player should be let leave.

Can I just say - as you say you're a Harps man - have you spent any time or effort encouraging these players who are (allegedly) looking away to stay with the Harps?

Where are you getting your information from because sensationalist statements cause damage - and taking it you're a Harps man/woman, I'll answer you question as a fellow Harps man.

(without knowing his reasons why he has asked to move), Take Sting as an example - a player who has played for the Club for 20 years and Club Captain from around 3 years ago.  Every effort should be made to point out that if he has anything to offer, he should put it back into his own Club before offering it to another Club.

However, with this in mind, if the player gives the Club an acceptable reason to leave, it's in the best interest of the player (having has time to consider his request) is allowed to leave.

All in my opinion of course! :)

QuoteIts not too often I would praise anyone from the Orange County, but McConville was a class act.

Having become more of a  lurker on the board lately some comments deserve seconding.  There's one above - from 5times of all people! :)

Well that goes without saying!

Galway!  I just have a sneaky feel for the tribesmen in 2007!

Maybe because Loghnane will inspire a new belief into the hurlers and the footballers will want to keep pace!

Quotebut it went along the lines of County conventions debating the compromised rules is a bit like a Tory calling for Tax cuts.

Well, to put a finer point on it, with regards the Antrim convention Heaney's thoughts were along the line of 'much a do about nothing'.  He then referred to the Antrim County Board dicussing the problems with the current IR set up when they had no representatives on the panel, and they had more important things to deal with in their own 'house' - like trying to establsih Antrim football as a Provincial challenger.  He did pay tribute to Antrim hurling.  I think it was a fair enough point.

The very fact that people are discussing his article means he's done his job.  If he please all the people all the time there would be little for us to squabble about! ;)

QuoteBy the way, thanks to Randal for phoning me on the mobile when I was making my report to the meeting!

No problem Rufus!

Agree with Benny about the fella's we're missing, but there's nothing we can do about that and all credit must go to the boys who played on Sunday,

Congrats to Declan Coulter and Sean Hart on their awards. :)

Congrats to Crossmaglen on their win!

And with back to back minor titles it looks like the conveyor belt of talent continues.
