God only knows what sort of backhanders he was getting as mayor up there!

Italys La Liga were fit to put Juventus, the biggest team in the country down a division. Cant see why the same not happen to city.

They've invested serious money into the city of Manchester. As a former mayor of the city I'd say he is understandably a fan of theirs.

Rui Pinto the chap behind the Sham City leaks.

QuoteOn Wednesday, just hours after the verdict officially confirming Manchester City's guilt, the Commission responsible for Portugal's witness protection programme informed me of its decision to terminate my participation in the programme and withdraw my police protection, thereby knowingly placing me in a life-threatening situation.

Given these circumstances, I have no alternative but to relocate, within the next few days, to an undisclosed location for an indefinite period of time, due to the multiple death threats I have received and the serious risk of an assassination attempt against me.

I see that part of Man City's appeal is resubmitting a claim that has already been fully debunked and rejected as being "untrue" by the independent commission. The claim is that the Abu Dhabi government and not the club owners funded the sponsorship deal.

BBC

The independent commission rejected this submission as "untrue", saying: "We concluded that it was an 'explanation' that the club had concocted well after the event in an attempt to obscure and conceal the realities of the disguised funding scheme."

I am astounded at how arrogant they have been in all of this. Absolute zero humility.

There was mention of Southampton being thrown out of play offs last season and deducted 4 points in the EFL during the week. Their offence of spying seems insignificant to the gain City made through their financial doping. Don't know what a fair and adequate punishment is but relegation seems inevitable.

Relegation is no good if they'll just spend a year in the championship, win every game and come pick the following season and pick up where they left off. Strip the titles, relegate to league 2 or below. Owners booted out.

I'm a bit numb to the furore over this just because I expect all the big clubs are cooking the books to give themselves an advantage. Didn't Chelsea sell their women's team to themselves 2 years ago to boost their revenue on paper?

I'd expect that Arsenal, Pool, Spurs and Chelsea were all at similar scams during this era, the difference being they weren't caught out by a hacker handing the evidence over to Blid.

Look at PSG in Europe, a smaller European club bought by the Arabs and now consecutive EC champions, anyone think they did that fairly?

I just checked, 200 million Chelsea got for selling the women's team to themselves. In all seriousness, are we happy to overlook that scam but think City need to go down 3 divisions for their scam?

Footballs a financially dirty game, always has been. I find the current bout of moralising from the commentators a bit pathetic. It's like they're pretending that football hasn't been bought and sold 100x before.

Professional soccer, it's an absolute cesspit run by cretins, like look at the state of that last World Cup. Money and greed has destroyed it so what's happening to City is absolutely beautiful
