Quote from: Mourne Red on June 11, 2026, 09:59:20 PMDon't think the 2nd/3rd reds where reds imo

I think if nothing was given for the 2nd red card and a yellow instead of the 3rd red card no one would have batted an eyelid.
But they were.

A slap is a slap and he did it right in front of the ref.

I assume the third was the strength of the contact as opposed to dogso

An to return to one of my perennial problems with association football?

Is a game without physical contact  really the game we want to see? ie by  making physical contact such a risky undertaking, that it becomes all but removed?

I can only speak for myself here. And the answer is no.

I bet Baile Brigin is one of these fellas that's says 'there's contact so he's entitled to go down' when a super slow motion relay shows someone touched someone with their fingernail in the penalty box.

It is more or less a non-contact sport now unfortunately.

Gone to f**k. Football going the same way in a lot of cases, ref dependent

Hold up.

The guy threw a slap. Not a haymaker, but a slap. That's a red card in football too.

How did you jump there?

Which one are we talking about?

There is a big difference between saying the game is gone soft and saying the referee should ignore a slap thrown 10 feet in front of him...

QuoteAssociations are fined 10,000 US dollars for a yellow card at this World Cup. 20,000 for a straight red and 15,000 for a red after two yellows. On the evidence of this opener, a lot of the increased prizemoney is going to be redistributed.

A Daniel McDonnell tweet. Surely this can't be true??

Teams at any adult level are fined for cards. Seems steep but possible

My alter ego looks bored with this  one

Canada should  stick with the ice hockey

Two brutal teams already  and we're only three matches in. And  judging by the highlights, the Czechs  were brutal this morning

The Bosnian fan they showed a couple of times in the Bosnian flag bikini top has been the highlight of the game.

Hot women supporters, the one last remaining positive for the World cup

Italians must be embarrassed to have been beaten by Bosnia. Committed is about as good as you could say.

The clock is almost dead and the Canadian defenders are passing around to each other in the centre of the pitch instead of lumping it into the box ffs

Zlatan's greatest moment could be if he f**king roundhouses Alexi Lalas off the top deck of this stadium. Imagine being in the company of Rebecca Lowe, Thierry and then having to deal with Lalas.
