The meltdown though is real, has the underage dropped off also?

Got to a few U20 Leinster finals and have been beaten by Galway this year and last.

They are still winning colleges stuff, but it's not transferring into adult hurling.

The gap is huge between colleges and senior

I think that was the point Liam Cahill was making after the shelacking Tipp got from Limerick at the weekend.

Calls to blood a lot of these Tipp underage stars in a game like that against a physically imposing Limerick could go south very quickly and horribly for those young lads and set them back badly.

It's all well and good throwing one or two in on a team that's going well, but not Tipp this year.

Dublin are in their physical prime, Galway are probably still in transition with an experienced spine.

Who gets the furthest this year we'll soon see.

Huge gap between Cork Limerick and the rest. Question is if they end up the same side of the semi final draw who gets to the final and if Cork are there then can they get them on a wobbly day again.

Comerford is a right dose alright. Sticking the boot in lads for a few clicks. A right clown. He was an average player in a good team. Probably wouldn't even make this years team.


KK are on the transition again and it could take another 6-8 years before they progress again. They will always have the hurlers.


There's a good debate going on that their club hurling hasn't moved with the times and it's still 'agricultural' i.e. win your own ball. Then it's hard to translate this across to their inter-county team. Who knows?  Modern teams are adept at playing it through the lines etc.


But there's something to be said for lumping it down on T.J., Hedzo and Brian Hayes etc. It's a definate option. Personally I think KK have been brilliant in winning the last 6 Leinster titles.  And in the knock-out stages of the All-Irelands, anybody who beat KK usually went on and won it. So in a certain way, that group of players were punching above their weight in my opinion.


Tipp beat them last year - just about, some might say luckily enough. Clare beat them and went on to win an AI. Limerick had to play a brilliant 2nd 35mins to beat them in a final a few years ago also.


So when you take out Huw Lawlor, Billy Ryan and Adrian Mullan out, then it's a limited panel. Not enough quality on it. Who is the next big superstar in KK? Their minors and U20's are good, and always will be but where is the next T.J. or Richie Hogan?

Tipp have the success at U20's recently. Similar to Cork but KK don't in my opinion. And Tipp will bring them through.

I think they'll meet in the final. They both are a step above everybody else currently.

Munster Final will be interesting.

Be hard for one team to beat the other in all 3 games (if it happens):

1. Munster round robin.
2. Munster Final.
3. AI Final.
