I think the above is worded wrong, you can score with the hand eg punching/palming a high ball thats dropped short, but can't hand pass/fist pass over the bar.

Nail on head. Law of unintended consequences. It's only a trial, so let them try what they want, but there's definitely a feeling of change for changes sake here.

The 3 handpass rule stops goals like this.
The last Kerry defender can go and tackle Mc Caffrey as he knows he cannot hand pass again.

A 4 point goal to increase the incentive to get the ball inside to the full forward line. Remove the hand passed point to discourage getting the ball inside to the ff line.
Abandon all attempts to bring back the long kick and high fielding everyone was told they wanted when last the rules where changed by allowing the short kickout. Hope refs can count players behind them, handpasses, spot if someone is in or out of an arc, if a pass has traveled from the 45 to the 13, been caught cleanly, if a mark or solo and go is impeded all whilst deciding what is or is not a legitimate tackle.
It is a load of bollix and the only reason the proposals have been suggested is because the Expert Advisory Group exists.
