In fairness to United they are getting results and that's all that matters.  I can't say they have played well or not as I have only seen them a few times.  The games that I have seen De Gea has been the best player on the pitch for them but in years gone by how often was Smicheal the best player they had.  There is a good bunch of players there and if they can be blended into the right formation they can be very good.  Still shaky defensively but a top 4 finish and a few new defenders and United will be very hard to beat.

It's sad that I will be cheering for them to beat City as I genuinely think that is the only avenue that we have to make top 4.
United played well at home to Newcastle and QPR earlier in the season but the caveat of those teams being absolutely muck should also be noted!

United have found form in the last 3 games. Read an article a few weeks ago (forget by who) talking how Van Gaal's Bayern found form all of a sudden after a few months of mediocrity.

Mata on the right and Herrera both finding form have been key I think.

Can't be arse thrawling back through here but I recall a long debate how city were streets ahead of United. Just goes to show you how quickly things can change.

Don't rate City as a club at all personally, it's like the players know they are there for a cash cow and that's about it. 2 titles (handed to them by United in 2012 and Chelsea/Liverpool last year) and shocking performances in the champions league.

I read this morning that only 2 of City's team last night were under 29, Kompany and Aguero, with Kompany turning 29 this week. Could be their time is up unless they take on FFP this summer which the Neviller was advocating they should do last night on Monday night football.

If they're cute they'll get big money of the likes of Toure, Nasri and several others that they'd be better off without. To be honest, a CL ban is no biggie to them because they've not made an impact in it anyway and a fine would be beyond stupid.

Will the opposite not happen?? Like I said they're all 29 or older and aren't going to attract the type of transfer fees City need to replace them especially on the amount of money they're getting paid at City. A Champions League ban would be huge for them, City were basically bought to promote a country, what better way to do that than win the Champions League, they might be doing gash in it at present but you can be sure that's what one of their ultimate aims is.

magpie seanie

Maybe you're right, I've not given it huge consideration to be honest.

bit silly calling city a cash cow when united when out and spent up to 150 million on players and the money they have spent on falaco only for a season loan crazy, and to never be in the title chase and no CL football this season . they have 1 world class player and thats Rooney without him this season united would be only 6th or 7th and thats a fact.

Do you not think De Gea has been better than Rooney?

I know you're a wum but c'mon like, city offer nothing more than money and that's why I think they are a cash cow.....history ect, I'd think a lot more of Liverpool, Arsenal as clubs than City.
Think United can spend their money whatever way they like, since they generate it themselves...you know after years of success and history ect!

Regarding being in 6th of 7th position, cheers for that, wasn't aware. Maybe start a fact of the day thread. ;)

yes De Gea is a top class keeper and has done his bit and won points for united this season but Rooney is the one who makes them tick.

Rooney does indeed make them tick but others have stepped up as the season progressed. Young and Herrera have been very good. Carrick has a massive influence on any game he plays. Even Fellaini is having a good season. UTD should have no bother finishing top four now and then strengthen further in the summer.

Thewildcat

yes Fellaini yet everyone laugh at Moyes when he sign him for united ::) and his better than Di Maria and the price he cost.

magpie seanie

Fellaini is having a good season but Di Maria has more assists than anyone bar Fabregas this season. Not bad for a player well below his best.

I know people say it sometimes about the history of the club but has anyone really went to a club because of their history??

Money, Chance of a trophy and then family considerations I'd imagine and that's your lot!

Course, kids grow up playing in the streets scoring the winning goal in the FA cup Champions league final playing for 'big club' not Burnley or Carlisle!! Unless you're from said places
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

22 years ago today, where do the years go  8)

I think Network/RTE 2 used to show Prem games delayed by 30 minutes on a Saturday and that was the game that day. After the devastation of the previous season that was the moment we knew it was going to end.

22 years ago. Getting old....
