Kilrea v Glen, Kilrea at 6/1 odds is madness, Glen should not be this heavy a favourite, poor players all over the pitch, Kilrea better on paper. Kilrea by 2

GTP

The 4 favourites are evens as an accumulator, their opponents 548/1. The bookies don't expect any upsets.
They will very likely be correct.

Would have been kinder to just put them out of their misery after the Kilrea match, was inevitable.

Trasna into their 2nd final in a row in Junior

Having lost to Glenullin, Swatragh and Ballinascreen up to this point (and none of those making a Qtr final) you'd have to say Loup were right where they deserved to be.

Faughanvale took Banagher to extra time. And Loup made hard work of the game last night. Theres a strong argument it's Loup who are actually the worst team in SFC and deserved to go down.

Derry journal reporting the Senior manager was at Celtic park for the junior game. He got his moneys worth anyway

Glen came good in end and showed their class. Lavey putting up a great fight here. Low scoring but entertaining. Have to head out and gonna miss the second half here

OakLeaf

When Quinn got injured you could see Kilreas lack of belief rearing its head. Magherafelt Lavey really shouldn't be this close but Lavey are really up for it.

OakLeaf

Fair play to Lavey. They fairly put it up to Magherafelt. The Rossas cant afford to miss as many chances in the semis. Best game so far.

Lavey had a good go alright, alot closer than I expected but Magherafelt did miss a bagful. I thought Mc Closkey, Mc Evoy were super when crucial balls needed won or the team needed drove forward they definitely stepped up.
Sargent had good game, not sure he's a 6 but maybe more 11.

Kilrea's slow start really killed them, left them far to much to do. Still managed to be level 10/12 mins into second half. PJ Mc Aleese missing was definitely a big loss for them, maybe just one player too many not there.
Glen will need to sharpen that defence if they want to get past the next challenge. Seemed to be big holes when Kilrea ran at them but they just didn't have enough players to do it.

On a plus side note, does anyone agree that both games where very well refereed? I thought they let plenty go pulled players consistently for infringements, hopefully thats the new standard.

100% agree on the refereeing, although I think Kilrea could have felt a wee bit aggrieved by a couple of second-half decisions.

Ciaran Canney is a cut above the rest. No theatrics and no making it about himself just gets on with refereeing the game. In the championship so far he has established as top performer and I for one would like to see him get a county final.

Glen were never in too much danger in the final quarter. Kilrea's lack of fitness told in the end and watching their management in the last eight or nine minutes, I felt they saw that too. There's a side there that could be worked with, though.

The Lavey–Magherafelt game was thoroughly enjoyable. Lavey haven't really impressed in the championship so far, but they can hold their heads high after that performance. As mentioned, Sargent stood out and I thought Patrick McGurk, Ryan Mulholland and Ciaran Hendry were very good too.

Good to see our county keeper Lynch putting in performance after performance. It was a quiet night for Matthew Downey, thanks to Conor McCluskey. Conall and Dan Higgins stepped up when the game was in the melting pot, while McEvoy showed his versatility.

Magherafelt will need to get the shooting boots on for the next day, but they certainly showed their spirit in the final 10 minutes when it counted

Bellaghy fairly deserved that! How long did they have the ball going over and back at the end of the half there??

They had a lot of the ball in that second half. Probably should have won, but the Bridge never panicked. Great entertainment.
